Abstract: A system and method performed by the system is disclosed. In some embodiments, a template is parsed to identify a set of elements that form a unique key, where the set of elements includes a group name, subgroup name, and sequence element. A value is retrieved from a data store using the unique key. Presentation data is generated from the template by replacing the set of elements with the retrieved value. In an alternative embodiment, a system and method for updating a data store is disclosed. A messaging-framework message received from a client is parsed to identify a set of elements that form a unique key and associated update value. A value is updated in the data store with the identified value using the unique key to uniquely select a particular value from the data store for updating. An information system that generates presentation data and updates a data store is also disclosed.
