Abstract: The present disclosure provides a valve assembly comprising a valve section, a power section, and an electronics section. The valve assembly is configured to mate with a tubing sub (and/or mandrel) inserted in-line with a tubing string inserted into a wellbore. The valve allows for injection into or production from the tubing string. The valve assembly comprises an electric motor and a motor controller permitting fine control over the valve, as well as sensors which measure various parameters, such as fluid flow, valve position, pressure, temperature, and/or water cut. A cable connects the valve assembly to the surface and provides power and data telemetry and allows control of the valve assembly with a remote electronic signal. Multiple valve assemblies may be provided at spaced intervals along the tubing string and individually monitored and/or controlled by a remote location. Also disclosed is a method for operation of such valve assemblies.

  • Patent number: 11702905
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for fluid flow optimization within a wellbore for gas-lift operations and control of slug flows within the wellbore by utilizing a plurality of electronically controlled valves coupled to a tubing string. Selective actuation of the valves includes incremental opening or closing of an individual valve between a fully open, fully closed, or partial opening of a particular valve. Pressure measurements inside and outside of the tubing string are measured in real-time near the valve to help maintain the desired pressure distribution within the wellbore and to measure and control a pressure differential at a selected valve. Actuation of the valves may be electronically controlled at a remote location by electronic command signals or may be performed automatically by the downhole valves with or without input by a remote system.

  • Patent number: 11591886
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a gullet mandrel for fluid flow optimization in a wellbore. The gullet mandrel may be coupled to a downhole valve, such that a tubing string in a wellbore will have a plurality of valves coupled to a plurality of mandrels. Each gullet mandrel may have a valve recess and one or more gullets (or grooves) located in an exterior portion of the mandrel body. The gullets may have a wide variety of configurations, and may be formed in a portion, a majority, or substantially all of the mandrel. The gullets may direct movement of fluid exterior to the tubing string and help force fluid into a laminar or linear flow pattern and prevent the formation of slug flows and/or lessen the problems encountered by slug flows. The disclosed gullet mandrel may be used in any fluid injection or production operation, such as gas-lift operations.
