Abstract: The disclosure provides a bi-layer, pressed particles, adhering troche, comprising, (a) a first layer of pressed particles comprising an ingredient to be released; (b) a second, adhesive layer of pressed particles comprising a mixture of at least 80% by weight gelatin particles and 1-15% by weight compression binder particles so that the gelatin particles have a greater tensile strength from one to another than if the gelatin particles had been pressed without the binder; wherein the troche has a first non-adhesive side and a second adhesive side; wherein the troche is at least 5 mm in two dimensions; and wherein the troche adhered in a mouth dissolves without smearing or breaking apart.
Abstract: A method of reducing reflux from a stomach toward a mouth while sleeping in a person in need thereof by providing to the person an adhering, bilayer troche, comprising a first layer comprising an adhesive powder, and a second layer comprising a substrate that slowly dissolves or erodes in saliva and an ingredient to be released, wherein the ingredient stimulates saliva production in the mouth; and instructing the person to adhere one or more troches in their mouth before going to sleep, thereby causing frequent swallowing of stimulated saliva while sleeping resulting in reduced reflux from the stomach.
Abstract: A troche comprising at least 5 mg hyaluronan, wherein the troche is adherent, and wherein hyaluronan is released from the troche, is used to treat mucositis, including stomatitis, vestibulitis, aphthous ulcerations, lichen planus and Behcet's syndrome. A method for treating or preventing mucositis in a patient is provided, comprising applying to a mucosal surface or a tooth or orthodontic brace of a patient in need thereof an adhering troche comprising at least 5 mg hyaluronan.
Abstract: This invention is directed to a superior adhesive for oral adhering discs or troches. The adhesive is at least 80% acacia gum mixed with calcium carbonate so that, as the acacia gum is combined with water, it does not yield a pH lower than 5.5. The preferred ratio of acacia gum to calcium carbonate is within the range 15:1 to 50:1.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a composition comprising at least 0.02% bioactive cobalamin and a thickener, wherein the composition is a liquid, including a gel and a paste. The bioactive cobalamin may be methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. The thickener makes the viscosity of composition from about 50 to about 10,000 centipoise. The composition may be applied to mucosal surfaces, a tooth or gums to treat inflammatory, ulcerative and painful conditions of mucosal surfaces such as mucositis, stomatitis, vestibulitis, aphthous ulcerations, and Behcet's syndrome.
Abstract: A dissolving oral adhering patch with a dimple on at least one side to improve adhesion to hard convex surfaces in the mouth, including teeth, orthodontic braces and gums (keratinized gingiva). The patch may be designed to prevent or treat a sore in the mouth opposite a tooth or brace and may release a medication into the mouth, to treat a sore or to treat or prevent conditions elsewhere in the mouth or throat or stomach.
