Abstract: A framework for medical and surgical support enables remote guidance for implantations of medical devices during medical procedures and integrates video conferencing technology to enable product support specialists to provide support to medical personnel for such implantations in an operating facility during interactive collaboration sessions. The framework enables individuals wearing augmented reality-enabled display devices to communicate in real time with such product support specialists for medical devices who are not physically present in an operative theater, to promote and maintain sterile environments and protect the health and safety of the various participants in such collaboration sessions. The framework includes real-time, secure communication capabilities from, to, and between such medical personnel and any product support specialist client. The framework further includes hardware components and software elements that enable gesture detection and interpretation.
