Abstract: There is provided a fluorescent adduct which is amenable to detection by fluorometric and electrochemical techniques. The adduct is of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is a radical derived from a primary amine of the formula X--NH.sub.2 and where R.sub.1 --R.sub.6 are selected from various organic or inorganic substituents.

Abstract: Primary amines, secondary amines and peptides are fluorometrically assayed using a fluorogenic derivatization reagent of the formula: ##STR1## where Z is an electron withdrawing group or a fused benzene ring, Y and Y', which are identical or different, are nitrogen or carbon and X is a halogen or other leaving group. The above fluorogenic reagent reacts with the primary amine, secondary amine or peptide to form a cyclic fluorescent adduct.
Abstract: A multiprocessor central control unit a switching system with a main memory (CMY) including, aside from a tolerable timing slip, synchronously parallel operated memory block pairs (MB3a/MB3b) during normal operation. The main memory (CMY), together with the central processors (BP, CP . . . IOC . . . ), is connected to a central bus system (B:CMY0/CMY1). The data stored in parallel in the memory blocks of the memory block pairs (e.g., MB3a/MB3b) are EDC-protected. The processors have access to the memory block pairs (e.g. MB3a/MB3b). Upon the occurrence of a multiple error in an indicated second memory block (e.g., MB3b) of a memory block pair (MB3a/MB3b), the second memory block (MB3b) is isolated from the bus system (B:CMY0/B:CMY1) via an automatic memory configuration.

Abstract: A method of assaying primary amines or cyanide is disclosed. The process is carried out by reacting a substituted or unsubstituted naphthalene-2,3-dicarboxaldehyde or o-phthalaldehyde, reactive with primary amines and cyanide, with cyanide ions and at least one primary amine to form an adduct amenable to fluorometric or electrochemical assaying techniques. The adduct is then fluorometrically or electrochemically assayed. Also disclosed are 1-cyano-benz[f]isoindole adducts.

Abstract: Fluorogenic compounds are disclosed which are reactive with biologically important analytes including primary amines, secondary amines, and/or thiols and are of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein X is a group such as ##STR2## --CN, --CO.sub.2 CH.sub.3, or SO.sub.2 R, and wherein R is OR.sub.3, or Cl; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups having 1 to 3 carbon atoms and R.sub.3 is a phenyl or benzyl group. The inventive compounds form a fluorescent adduct with the above analytes at the number 7 position of the benzoxadiazole ring. The fluorescent adduct thereby formed enables detection of very minute amounts of analyte (picomoles) using conventional fluorescent analytical methods.
Abstract: A chemiluminescence method for assaying compounds containing primary amino groups using 1-cyano-2-substituted benz(f)- or naphth(f)-isoindole fluorescers is disclosed. The 1-cyano-2-substituted benz(f)- or naphth(f)-isoindole (CBI or CNI) is formed by reacting a compound containing a primary amino group with naphthalene-2-3-dicarboxaldehyde or anthracene-2,3-dicarboxaldehyde in the presence of cyanide ion. The reaction product of hydrogen peroxide with an oxalate ester is then combined with the CBI or CNI to form an analyte which exhibits chemiluminescence. A detector is used to measure the chemiluminescence emission from the chemiluminescence derivatized analytes. Compounds containing primary amino groups which may be assayed according to the present invention include primary amines, amino acids, peptides and catecholamines. The method can also be adapted to the analysis of trace amounts of cyanide ion and hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract: A new class of substituted 2,3-naphthalenedicarboxaldehydes (NDA) is disclosed. Such compounds are of the formula: ##STR1## wherein one or more of R.sub.1 -R.sub.8 are various substituting groups. The above compounds react, in the presence of cyanide ion, with compounds containing primary amino groups to form adducts which exhibit a high fluorescent yield and thus are readily detected and measured by fluorometric assaying techniques.
