Patent number: 4299102Abstract: A threaded cap for sealing an automotive vehicle fuel tank is provided with a unitary molded central plastic core and a bonnet rotatably mounted on the plastic core. A pair of concentric races are defined on the plastic core. The inner race carries a unitary molded plastic frame which has a pair of resilient, closely spaced transverse cantilevered arms defining a gap therebetween. The frame is also provided with a resilient catch. A unitary molded plastic bolt is reciprocally movable along the gap to engage and disengage the core for rotation with the bonnet. The bolt has two detents which coact with the catch on the frame to hold the bolt at selected unlocking and locking dispositions of movement. The bolt includes a stud which projects into the gap between the arms so that the arms spring bias the bolt toward the locking disposition. A lock mechanism is used to shift the bolt to an unlocking disposition so that the fuel cap be disengaged from the fuel tank inlet pipe.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1979Date of Patent: November 10, 1981Assignee: Orion Industries, Inc.Inventor: Ernesto Aro

Patent number: 4292840Abstract: A simple fuel consumption efficiency gauge employs a pointer mechanically coupled to the extremity of a Bourdon gauge. The pointer is electrically coupled to vehicle ground and is bracketed by two contact posts associated with high and low fuel consumption efficiency, respectively. Contact by the pointer with either post completes an electrical circuit through a corresponding light emitting diode to signal good or poor fuel consumption efficiency. When the pointer is between the contact posts, current is continuously supplied to another light emitting diode through a load in order to signal fair fuel consumption efficiency. The device is housed in a casing adapted for connection to similar casings by means of clips and clamps.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1980Date of Patent: October 6, 1981Assignee: Orion Industries, Inc.Inventor: Liem Nguyen

Patent number: 4258004Abstract: A disk shaped air freshener includes opposed mating trays which define a cavity therebetween and which are engaged for rotation relative to each other. Windows are defined in both of the trays, and openings to the cavity are increased, decreased, or shut entirely by relative rotation of the trays to alter the alignment of the windows. One tray has an axial sleeve and the other has several cantilevered arms which fit through the sleeve and which engage a radial groove in the sleeve to the hold the trays together in relatively rotatable fashion. A scented element is confined within the cavity between the trays and is allowed to provide a freshening scent through openings defined by the aligned windows in the tray. An adhesive pad is centrally located on one of the trays at the axial center of the air freshener.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1979Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Orion Industries, Inc.Inventors: Joseph F. Patent number: 4242844Abstract: A spark plug cleaner is constructed as an upright canister with outwardly directed openings into which spark plugs are inserted. A vertically mounted motor driven impeller sucks grit from an axial center of the canister and flings it toward the spark plug sockets. A grit recovery floor is provided below the impeller and sockets and is configured concave upward. A suction guide fits coaxially over the collection floor and also slopes concave upward toward the center of the impeller. An annular vacuum channel is formed between the collection floor and the suction guide to concentrate impeller suction on spent grit as it falls to said collection floor and to increase grit velocity and density to the impeller.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: January 6, 1981Assignee: Orion Industries, Inc.Inventor: James I.
