Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for cathodic protection of steel reinforced concrete which comprises using an anode structure made of an array of valve metal strips activated by an electrocatalytic coating and having voids therein, supported by or inserted into insulating spacers, said strips being connected by connection means either provided with voids or without voids, or rods, bars, insulated cables. The anode structure is applied to the reinforcing steel cage during Construction before the concrete is poured. The anode structure of the present invention exhibits a remarkable mechanical resistance and has an anode surface which may be tailored in order to provide for the necessary protection current on the basis of the density of the reinforcing bars contained in the structure to be cathodically protected.
Abstract: A method of forming a grid for cathodically protecting a steel rebar reinforced concrete structure comprising forming on the surface of the concrete structure rows of a plurality of valve metal strips with voids, the said strips having an electrocatalytic surface and at least 200 nodes per square meter of concrete surface, providing valve metal strips optionally without voids at spaced intervals connected to the rows of strips with voids to form a grid electrode and covering the grid electrode with an ion conductive cementitious overlay and the structure prepared thereby.
Abstract: System for collecting chemical-physical and electrochemical parameters for designing and/or operating cathodic protection systems applied to steel structures exposed to corrosion. The system includes a series of electrode sensors (5, 6), (5-7, 5-7'), (14-16), (17), connected to conducting sleeves (2) applied onto a multipolar conducting cable (1) and/or series of conventional sensors placed in sealed rooms (26) provided inside cable (1).The invention further discloses the method for utilizing said apparatus.

Abstract: Flexible ground anode prepacked with backfill for protection of a cathode with impressed currents, made up by a flexible anodic conductor (1), surrounded by backfill and coaxially centered as to the flexible external casing (2) by means of spacers (3), which function also as current distributors to the casing itself, and supporting the anodic elements (4). The flexible casing (2) and elements (3) are constituted by metallic materials corrodable by the current.

Abstract: An advantageous anodic structure, particularly useful for cathodic protection of metal structures having a large linear extension, is made of an insulated power cable having suitable terminal at least at one end for the electrical connection to the positive pole of the electrical source and of a series of anodic segments distributed over the length of the power cable, coaxial with the cable itself and electrically connected through a leak-proof connection with the conductive core of the insulated power cable without interruption of the core continuity.
Abstract: Diluted and contaminated caustic solutions coming from the regeneration and washing of ion exchange resins may advantageously be purified and reconcentrated to be reused during the subsequent regeneration cycles, by subjecting the contaminated solution to electrolysis in the anodic compartment of an electrolytic cell provided with a cation-exchange membrane and recovering concentrated and purified caustic solution from the cathodic compartment of the cell, whereto demineralized water is fed.The process of the invention may advantageously be carried out in subsequent electrolytic stages in order to maintain optimum working conditions and a high overall efficiency of the process.
Abstract: There is described an electrolytic cell and a process for removing the halide or other anion from an organic salt having as general formula A+X--, wherein A+ is an organic cation and X-- is a halide or other anion. Typical compounds of this type are the hydrohalides of nitrogen bases or other salts or hydrosalts of such bases or compounds notably salts (hydrohalides) of quaternary ammonium bases or of amines or amides. However the process herein contemplated may be applied to the removal of anions, e.g. chloride, which are present as an impurity or in combination with the organic compound.
