Abstract: A DNA cassette for expression and secretion of a given amino acid, polypeptide or protein in a host strain of corynebacterium, including a sequence which encodes the amino acid, polypeptide or protein, and a region of chromosomal or plasmid DNA, wherein the sequence is situated in the region of chromosomal or plasmid DNA such that the sequence is transcribed with, at the sequence's 5' end, at least one portion of a sequence encoding the signal sequence of the protein PS1 or PS2, the at least one portion ensuring the secretion of the amino acid, polypeptide or protein after translation when the DNA cassette is incorporated into the host strain of corynebacterium.

Abstract: A process for the production of cyclodextrins, comprising reacting non-treated starch with cyclodextrin-glycosyl-transferase produced by Bacillus ohbensis (FERM BP-3180), or produced by a mutant derived from Bacillus ohbensis (e.g., FERM BP-3180), or produced by any other strain in which the CGTase gene from B. ohbensis has been cloned, in an aqueous solution at pH between 6.5 and 8.8 and extracting the cyclodextrins from the reaction mixture by ultrafiltration, is provided.
Abstract: A method for the preparation of compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents a group of the formula OR.sub.1 or NR.sub.1 R.sub.2, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently represent H or an organic group that forms a stable covalent bond with the N or 0 of said X; Y is H or an organic group that forms a stable ester with the adjacent COO group; R is an alkyl or aryl group optionally substituted with one or more stable organic substituents; each R.sub.3 independently represents a stable organic group; and n is an integer from 0 to 3;the method using new intermediates of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3 and Y have the foregoing meanings;W is either F or Cl; andR.sub.9 is a hydrocarbon such as a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or alkenyl group.
