Patents Assigned to Orscheln Brake Lever Mfg. Company
  • Patent number: 4127042
Abstract: An improved brake lever assembly of the overcenter toggle type is disclosed, wherein the brake operating lever is preferably pivotally connected with the stationary mounting plate assembly about a pivot axis that is laterally displaced from the linear axis of travel of an inner cable member relative to the concentrically arranged tubular outer sheath, thereby to reduce wear of the inner cable guide means. According to a first feature of the invention, an improved anchor plate or anchor plate arrangement is provided for connecting one end of the outer sheath member with one end of the stationary mounting plate assembly. In accordance with a second feature, a ratchet and pawl assembly is provided for releasably locking the operating lever in various angular positions relative to the mounting plate assembly.

  • Patent number: 4114718
Abstract: An improved locking device of the hook and transverse pin type is disclosed for locking together a pair of components, characterized by the provision of a cam member that is displaceable by linearly operable cam operating means to operate a hook member between locked, safety and fully released positions relative to a locking pin member. In one embodiment, the cam member is linearly displaceable throughout its entire length of travel between locking, safety and releasing positions by the cam operating means, and in a second embodiment, the cam member is pivotally displaceable between the locking and safety positions, and linearly displaceable between the safety and releasing positions. A pawl device may be provided for normally locking the cam member in its releasing position when the pin and hook housings are separated, said pawl device being operable to its unlocked condition when the pin and hook housings are returned to their adjacent contiguous position.

  • Patent number: 4022509
Abstract: An improved actuator is disclosed for operating the locking pin of a tilt cab locking device to the released position against the biasing force of a spring that normally biases the locking pin toward a locked position relative to blade and blade housing members secured to the vehicle chassis and to the tilt cab, respectively. The invention is characterized in that the actuator includes a unitary housing having an outer tubular portion secured at one end to a rigid leg of the blade housing about the locking opening, a first transverse wall closing the other end of the outer tubular portion and containing a first opening, an inner tubular portion arranged in concentrically spaced relation within the outer tubular portion and secured at one end with said first transverse wall about said first opening, and a second transverse wall closing the other end of the inner tubular portion.

  • Patent number: 3973793
Abstract: Improved heavy duty locking means are disclosed for locking together a pair of movable components such as the tilt cab and chassis components of a motor vehicle, characterized by the provision of movable locking pin means for releasably connecting the blade and housing members secured to adjacent surfaces of the components, respectively. In one embodiment, the locking pin is connected with the housing member for axial displacement between locked and released positions relative to a locking aperture contained in one end of the blade member. In another embodiment, the locking pin is connected for lateral displacement relative to a locking slot contained in a lateral surface of the blade member. The locking pin may be actuated by piston and cylinder motor means or by a manually-operable linearly-displaceable actuator. In various embodiments of the apparatus, the motor means and the locking pin are arranged on the same and on opposite sides of the blade and housing members, respectively.
