Abstract: The present invention relates to a structure for supporting an information or surveillance device above a road. The structure includes: at least one post extending upwards from the ground to an elevated position, at least one overhead beam which is supported by said post, the overhead beam extending over a horizontal distance above the road, at least one information or surveillance device being connected to said overhead beam and being positioned above the road, a catwalk extending along the overhead beam, wherein said catwalk comprises a guard rail assembly which is movable between: an operating position in which the guard rail assembly extends upwardly from a floor of the catwalk and protects personnel from falling from the catwalk, and a retracted, non-operating position in which the guard rail assembly is concealed behind the overhead beam when viewed from a direction of approaching traffic on the road.

Abstract: The invention relates to a light comprising: a primary lightpipe (2); and, a light source (1). The primary lightpipe may have: a lightpipe inlet side (3) constructed and arranged to receive light from the light source and to allow it to enter the primary lightpipe; a back side (6b) being provided with a serrated structure (5) comprising a reflecting surface (10) to reflect light from the light source; and, a front side (6a) constructed and arranged to internally reflect the light received from the light source to the back side of the primary lightpipe and to transmit light received from the reflecting surface.

Abstract: An information system for displaying information, the system including a light source 2, an optical element OP having an optical axis to display information by directing light received at an entrance surface 5 from the light source through the optical element to an exit surface 6 for the light to exit the optical element, and, an absorber 10 to absorb sunlight entering the optical element at the exit surface. The system includes a reflector 12, 13 to reflect sunlight entering the optical element at the exit surface to the absorber 10 to absorb the reflected sunlight.
