Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly for repairing a tear or lesion in a body tissue such as a meniscus including a scaffold material and methods using such an assembly in repairing a tear or lesion.
Abstract: The invention presents a new method to prepare biomedical polyurethanes with high tensile and tear strengths. Such polyurethanes are especially interesting for making foams thereof, e.g. as meniscus implants. A new method, applicable to the biomedical polyurethanes, has been found to make such foams, that can be used as scaffolds. This method is based on salt leaching and phase separation.

Abstract: The present invention provides a polyurethane implant that is porous and degradable, and act as a scaffold for the repair of damaged tissue. Importantly, the implant of the present invention is biocompatible with the degradation products of the implant causing minimal immune or cytotoxic reaction. The present invention also provides for a method of making these biocompatible implants.
