Abstract: In a stereo pick-up having movable coils (14) and an SmCo magnet (22) with a high energy content, with the coil system (14, 15, 18) arranged in front of one pole face of said magnet, a yoke plate (23) of a magnetic soft material is arranged in front of said system to increase the magnetic induction in the coils. The great coercive force of the magnet is utilized for simplifying and reducing the costs of the mechanical structure in that the yoke plate is formed with two legs (26) which extend rearwardly, engage and are secured to two opposite sides of the magnet. The short-circuit of the magnet established by these legs has no noticeable impact on the induction in the air gap because of the high coercive force of the magnet.

Abstract: For the purpose of securing a thin, enamelled wire (15) to a tubular plug pin (10), whose one end is embedded in a massive block (14), the wire (15) is clamped in the pin (10) by means of a plug (16) which is conical at both ends and may thus, no matter how it faces, be forced into the pin (10) to clamp the wire (15) to a flattened state there so that its enamel bursts, which provides an effective electrical contact.

Abstract: In a pick-up of the type having a relatively flat, square armature disposed perpendicularly to one end of a stylus arm and supported on one side by an elastic damping device which in turn is firmly supported by an air gap defining pole piece, selective damping is provided by the application of a particular damping device consisting of a disc shaped inertia body clamped between two rubber pads.

Abstract: A phonograph pickup comprises the end portion of a cylindrical pole leg and an opposing yoke with an air gap therebetween, and a moving system including a stylus arm and an armature. A pivoting means provides for pivotal mounting of the moving system in the air gap, and comprises a first resilient bearing spaced a first distance from the pivot point for supporting the armature, and a second resilient bearing spaced a second distance (greater than the first distance) from the pivot point for engaging the moving system with a lower pressure than the first resilient bearing.

Abstract: A moving coil pickup of the type having a substantially square magnetic armature mounted in an air gap defined between two opposed pole faces of magnetic members in a magnetic circuit wherein the shape of the pole faces is conformed to the shape of the armature by making at least one end portion of at least one of the magnetic members substantially square in cross-section.

Abstract: A phonograph pickup having an armature supported by a resilient pad which restores the armature to a neutral position after excursions thereof. A further resilient means is provided, which engages the armature at a greater distance from its fulcrum than does the pad. The additional resilient means is made of a material having good damping characteristics.
