Patent number: 10390154Abstract: A sound processor assembly having a coil support device which allows for the coil to be moved without damaging the plastic components or deforming the shell body. This is done by making the ear shell of the sound processor assembly, whether an integrated sound processor assembly or a linked sound processor assembly, out of two separate polymers: a first polymer that does not soften when heat is applied, and a second polymer which does. The first polymer is used for the first polymer zone of the shell which is shaped to the ear canal, while the second polymer is used for the section of the shell which supports the coil. This allows the shell to be heated, thereby softening the second polymer but not the first, and allows the coil to be repositioned to a new location.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2014Date of Patent: August 20, 2019Assignee: Ototronix, LLCInventors: Michael R. Patent number: 9414173Abstract: A method for fitting verification of a hearing device has been disclosed. The current invention can be used to evaluate and verify a fitting for a hearing device on individual ears. It uses the hearing device itself as testing apparatus. No additional equipment is required other than the fitting computer and interface which are already required and exist for the device fitting. The method for fitting verification with in situ hearing test consists of at least two steps. One is to obtain patient's unaided hearing thresholds, which can be either in situ hearing thresholds or conventional audiogram. The second step is to measure patient's aided in situ hearing thresholds. An in situ functional gain is then calculated based on the unaided and aided in situ thresholds. The in situ functional gain can be used to evaluate or verify if intended target gains have been achieved with the device.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2014Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: Ototronix, LLCInventor: Zezhang Hou

Publication number: 20140205117Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for automatic haring device fitting have been disclosed. The disclosed apparatus includes a search engine for searching the optimal settings of a hearing device, a first selector for patient to alternate the hearing device between two presets, and a second selector for patient to register the preference or no preference to the two presets. The search engine includes the tie-break component for deciding which preset is better when patient cannot tell the difference between presets. The disclosed method includes a search engine for searching the optimal settings of a hearing device, a first mean for patient to alternate the hearing device between two presets, and a second mean for patient to register the preference or no preference of the two presets. The method may be implemented as a computer software program or as a standalone apparatus for controlling and programming hearing devices. It may also be incorporated in a hearing device itself.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2014Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: OTOTRONIX LLCInventor: ZEZHANG HOU

Publication number: 20110144414Abstract: An improved middle ear implant and method are disclosed. The invention particularly relates to magnetic implants and to attachment devices and methods for mounting a magnet in the middle ear of a patient. The implant comprises a wire-form and a magnet disposed in a housing. The method may comprise the steps of: positioning a magnet in optimal alignment; and attaching said magnet to an ossicle in the middle ear. The method may further comprise the step of using a wire-form to attach the implant to the ossicle. Still further, the method may comprise the step of anchoring the implant to the ossicle with biological cement.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 1, 2010Publication date: June 16, 2011Applicant: Ototronix, LLCInventors: Michael R.
