  • Patent number: 9517309
Abstract: An injection device includes a housing, a receptacle for receiving a medicine cartridge and configured for attachment to a proximal end of the housing, and a leadscrew having an end for engaging with a bung of a cartridge. The leadscrew has a first thread extending axially along an outer surface thereof and at least one axially extending guide track. The injection device includes a rotatable drive mechanism for engaging with the first thread or guide track, and a guiding element for engaging with the other of the first thread or guide track, the guiding element being non-rotatable with respect to the housing during an injection operation, whereby rotation of the drive mechanism causes the leadscrew to move axially in a proximal direction in order to deliver a dose from the cartridge. The injection device further includes a stop member located proximal to the rotatable drive mechanism and the guiding element.

  • Patent number: 8998855
Abstract: Apparatus for loading into an injection device and comprising a syringe and a boot remover. The syringe has a syringe body, a needle and a boot providing a sterile cover for the needle. The boot remover has a body for substantially enclosing the boot and a lip or lips projecting inwardly to engage a junction between the boot and the syringe body. The boot remover also has, at its widest point, substantially the same outer dimension as, or a smaller outer dimension than, the syringe body. The apparatus can be loaded into an injection device through an opening at a distal end of the device such that, when loaded, a portion of the boot remover projects through a proximal end of the device to facilitate removal of the boot remover and boot by a user. This arrangement allows a user to remove the boot from the syringe by holding and pulling on said grip.

  • Patent number: 8905971
Abstract: A pen-type injector for receiving a medication containing member. The injector comprises a housing 1 and a torsion spring 4 contained within the housing and coupled to a drive member 8. A dose setting knob 2 is coupled to the spring 4, and rotatably coupled to the housing 1 such that rotation of the knob relative to the housing in a first direction results in compression or twisting of the spring. A user actuable trigger 12 is provided for releasing the spring 4 to push the drive member 8 through the housing 1. A user actuable button 6 is coupled to the housing 1 for axial motion relative thereto, said button 6 being coupled to the torsion spring 4 to cause the spring to unwind or expand in discrete steps with each press of the button.

  • Patent number: 8377088
Abstract: A lancet including a needle; a body for holding the needle; and a cap for shielding at least the tip of the needle; the body and/or the cap being moulded, wherein the body and the cap are bonded together during moulding, and wherein, at the interface between the body and the cap, the bonding force per area unit is less than within both the body and the cap. Also a lancet including: a needle; a body for holding the needle; and a cap for shielding at least the tip of the needle, wherein the body has a first engagement formation and the cap has a second engagement formation, wherein the engagement formations are formed such that, once the cap has been removed from the remainder of the lancet, the engagement formations can be made to engage with each other so that the cap is carried by the body.

  • Publication number: 20120186075
Abstract: An apparatus for removing a sheath from a syringe. The sheath provides a sterile cover for a needle of the syringe. The apparatus includes a substantially cylindrical housing defining an opening for receiving a sheath attached to a syringe, and a driver mounted on the housing and being slideable along the housing between first and second axially displaced positions. The apparatus further includes a plurality of radially deflectable fingers mounted within the housing and being coupled to the driver for movement therewith. The fingers are configured such that movement of the driver from the first to the second position causes the fingers to slide over the sheath and engage with a formation on the sheath. Movement of the driver from the second position towards the first position causes the fingers to push the sheath off the syringe. Also provided is an injection device including the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20120191048
Abstract: An apparatus removes a sheath from a pre-filled syringe. The syringe has a barrel and a needle, the sheath providing a sterile cover for the needle. The apparatus includes a housing enclosing the syringe barrel defining an injection end with an aperture sized to allow the sheath of an enclosed syringe to protrude there through, and a syringe barrel mount retaining the syringe in the housing. The mount slides axially within the housing between positions towards and away from the injection end of the housing. A biasing element biases the mount away from the injection end of the housing, and a latch for latching the mount in a latched position to prevent sliding of the mount away from the injection end of the housing. The latch is releasable from the latched position, by sliding of the mount towards the injection end. Also provided is an injection device including the apparatus.
