Patent number: 12674874Abstract: A passive compression wave imaging system for locating cavitation bubbles, the system comprising a plurality of sensor elements (202b) arranged in an array and each arranged to produce an output signal, and processing means (204a, 204b) arranged to: define a sample period, and a sample space over which the signal can be sampled at each of a plurality of sample points in the sample space; define a grid of candidate bubble positions; define a random projection identifying a respective different group of the sample points for each of the output signals; sample each of the output signals at the group of sample points defined by the random projection to generate sample data; define a dictionary which defines the sample values that would be obtained for the signal of each of the respective group of sensor elements at each of the sample points for the sample period for a bubble at each of the candidate bubble positions; define a vector the elements of which identify the candidate bubble positions; and perform a miniType: GrantFiled: November 16, 2021Date of Patent: July 7, 2026Assignee: OXSONICS LIMITEDInventors: Christian M. Patent number: 12551188Abstract: An apparatus for imaging cavitation in a subject volume includes a plurality of transducer elements and a control means. The control means controls a first transducer element to generate ultrasound having a focal region, receive passive detection signals from a first group of the transducer elements and generate from the passive detection signals a cavitation image of cavitation in the focal region. The control means controls a second transducer elements to generate reflective imaging ultrasound, receive reflective imaging detection signals from a second group of the transducer elements and generate from the reflective imaging detection signals a reflective image. The reflective image is registered with a 3D image of the subject volume to obtain a transformation between a coordinate system of the first group and a coordinate system of the 3D image. The transformation is applied to the cavitation image to align it with the 3D image.Type: GrantFiled: June 15, 2021Date of Patent: February 17, 2026Assignee: OXSONICS LIMITEDInventors: Christian Coviello, Constantin Coussios, Sean Finn, Edward Jackson

Patent number: 11260247Abstract: A passive compression wave imaging system comprises an array of sensor elements arranged in a sparse array and a processor arranged to: store a plurality of samples of the output from each of the sensor elements over a sample period; derive from the stored samples a value for each of a set of image pixels; wherein for each of the image pixels the processing means is arranged to: define a plurality of different sets of weights for the elements of the sparse array; calculate a component of a pixel value from each of the sets of weights and the stored samples; and sum the components of the pixel value to produce a final pixel value.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2013Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: OXSONICS LIMITEDInventors: Christian Coviello, Richard Kozick, Constantin Coussios

Patent number: 10918718Abstract: The invention disclosed herein relates to a method of cavitation-induced delivery of a therapeutic or diagnostic agent to a human or animal subject. In particular the invention provides an agent for use in a method of diagnosis or treatment of a human or animal subject, the method comprising exposing the subject to ultrasound, wherein the agent comprises a therapeutic or diagnostic component which is covalently bound to a dense component, the dense component having a density greater than that of the therapeutic or diagnostic component, and wherein either the dense component is a cavitation initiator or the method comprises administering to the subject a further agent which is a cavitation initiator. Binding of the dense component enhances cavitation-induced transport of the therapeutic or diagnostic component.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2014Date of Patent: February 16, 2021Assignee: Oxsonics LimitedInventors: Steven Mo, Robert Crispin Carlisle, Leonard W. Seymour, Constantin-Cassios Coussios

Patent number: 10441529Abstract: The invention disclosed herein relates to a nanoparticle comprising: a cup having a cavity, and a gas pocket present in the cavity, wherein the gas pocket is partially encapsulated by the cup. Typical uses of the nanocups include initiating inertial cavitation during simultaneous exposure to ultrasound, and/or as drug carriers to achieve targeted drug delivery in response to ultrasound excitation.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2014Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: Oxsonics LimitedInventors: James Kwan, Rachel Myers, Constantin-Cassios Coussios, Apurva Shah
