Patents Assigned to Oy Aboatech AB
  • Patent number: 6833473
Abstract: Kits are provided for use in the screening of the risk for, the diagnosis, management and research of atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease comprising means for isolating LDL from a serum or plasma sample for the preparation of a LDL fraction, and means for separating the lipids from the LDL fraction to obtain a lipid fraction. The kit can further include a means for use in the determination of the level of conjugated dienes (LDL-BDC) in the lipid fraction. The invention also relates to a kit for in the above mentioned purpose including means for isolating LDL from a serum or plasma sample for the preparation of a LDL fraction, and means for use in the determination of the antioxidant potential of LDL in the sample.

  • Patent number: 5874313
Abstract: A method for the determination of the oxidizability of low density lipoproteins (LDL) in a serum or plasma sample from a mammal, which method comprisesisolating the LDL from the serum or plasma sample for the preparation of a LDL fraction, separating the lipids from the LDL fraction to obtain a lipid fraction therefrom, determining the baseline level of conjugated dienes (BDC) in the lipid fraction.

  • Patent number: 5858690
Abstract: The present invention comprises a simple way of identifying the tendency towards allergy or allergy already broken out, and showing the probability of allergy in a patient, by measuring the receptor expression of the phagocytic cells of peripheral blood. With a logistic regression model a combination of variables were found which best describe the probability of allergy. Thus the invention relates to a method for detecting allergy and a test kit for accomplishing the method. The invention also relates to a sensitive and specific logistic model for determining the probability of allergy.

  • Patent number: 5849886
Abstract: A process for extraction of myelin basic protein from myelin containing tissue, such as central nervous system tissue, which process comprises the following steps:extraction of the myelin basic protein from myelin containing tissue with an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of chloroform and compounds having a polarity similar to that of chloroform;incubation of the organic phase in the presence of a lower aliphatic alcohol or propylene glycol;transfer of the myelin basic protein from the lower aliphatic alcohol/organic solvent mixture to an aqueous phase with the aid of hydrogen ions (protons); andrecovery of the purified myelin basic protein. The invention also relates to the product obtainable by the process.
