  • Patent number: 4668013
Abstract: In hinge structures for seats having adjustable backrests, a hinge piece attached to the fixed seat (12) and a hinge piece (6) attached to the adjustable backrest (13) are connected on a pivot axle (7) with an eccentric portion (7a). One hinge piece has inwardly projecting teeth (6a) defining a toothed zone into which extend the outwardly projecting teeth (8a) of a spur gear zone of the second hinge piece, thus forming a wobble-plate gear unit. In addition to both of these toothed zones, there is provided on the first hinge piece a second inwardly projecting toothed zone (6b) concentric with an axially displaced from the first inwardly projecting toothed zones and meshed with a second spur gear zone (8b) concentric with and axially displaced from the first spur gear zone.

  • Patent number: 4573739
Abstract: Hinge structures are disclosed which are useful in seats with adjustable krests, the structures including a gear unit (6, 8) in which indented and protruding tooth systems (6a, 8a) are punched into the hinge pieces using the precision blanking process, the diameter as well as the tooth contour of the protruding tooth system (8a) being at least partially smaller than the diameter and the tooth contour of the associated indented tooth system (6a) so that material can then flow from the unused tooth system produced during precision blanking and into the effective tooth system, thus enlarging the tooth width (b) of the effective tooth system to be greater than the thickness (d) of the initial material. See FIGS. 4a and 5a.

  • Patent number: 4572468
Abstract: A seat includes a device for adjusting the position of a seat part relative o its support. The device is operated by a rotary knob which rotates a pinned disc of a lantern wheel gearing arrangement. The pins of the disc cooperate with teeth of a gear wheel which is connected to a pinion that rolls on a toothed segment articulated to the seat support. The teeth of the gear wheel are constructed so that reaction forces due to contact between the flanks and the pins are directed so as to pass through the rotational axis of the disc. Therefore no torque is applied to the disc and it remains stable.

  • Patent number: 4526424
Abstract: A slide rail assembly includes a U-shaped guiding rail and a U-shaped gui rail. The guided rail has turned-in portions along the longitudinal free edges of its legs, which turned-in portions engage behind adjacent legs of the U-shaped guiding rail. One leg of the guided rail together with its turned-in portion is recessed from one end of the rail to substantially the center of the rail. The other leg of the guided rail is recessed from the other end of the rail to the center.

  • Patent number: 4518201
Abstract: A rear seat for a motor vehicle includes a seat part and a back rest pivo to the seat part. The seat is mounted so that it can be moved between an inoperative position, in which the seat part and back rest are folded together and positioned approximately parallel to the back rest of the vehicle's front seat, and several operative positions. The seat part is mounted to the floor of the vehicle by a first link. A second link is pivotally mounted at one end to the back rest and has a journal at the other end. A locking member is movable between a locking position in which it holds the journal pivotably to an adjacent part of the vehicle and an unlocked position in which the journal is released to allow the seat to be moved to its inoperative position.

  • Patent number: 4483504
Abstract: A vehicle seat (see FIG.1) is slidably supported by two pairs of slide ra, each rail of each pair having the same cross-section. For both pairs each rail (1,2) includes a U-shaped portion and an offset flange. The flange of one rail (2) engages in the U-shaped portion of the other rail and vice versa. Ball bearings may be accommodated in a space between the two rails and a locking latch may be provided to lock the rails of one pair with respect to one another. The two rails are thus double interlocked so as to resist separation for example in the event of a road accident. Also expense is reduced because the two rails are of similar cross-section.

  • Patent number: 4461511
Abstract: A vehicle seat which incorporates provision for fore and aft adjustment of the seat as a whole, height adjustment of the seat part and angular adjustment of the back rest, includes a fitting which enables these adjustments to be made, but prevents inadvertent adjustment. The fitting includes a lever and a tongue pivotal on a plate secured to the seat, the tongue being arranged to co-operate with a latch or alternatively an arrest device to prevent pivoting of the tongue and hence of the lever. By immobilizing the lever the adjustments to the seat are prevented.

  • Patent number: 4398751
Abstract: A vehicle safety belt link point assembly for attachment to a pillar of the vehicle at a location adjacent the shoulder of a vehicle occupant, includes a slotted guide with one link provided with a series of locking openings. The guide is secured to the pillar. A slide member is mounted on the guide and has one limb lying adjacent and parallel to the limb of the guide. The slide member limb has one opening which can be made coincident with any of the openings of the guide member limb. A slide piece carries a link point for receiving the belt webbing and is movable in the slot of the guide. A link is movable with the slide piece and carries a projection which can engage in a selected opening of the guide limb and with the opening of the slide member to lock the device.

  • Patent number: 4390328
Abstract: A fluid driving or fluid driven machine includes an outer cylinder housing stationary piston. The piston includes a generally annular flexible band of smaller circumference than the inner circumference of the cylinder, and a rotary body accommodated within the band. The rotary body has three rollers for urging the band against the inner surface of the cylinder at three angularly spaced locations so that the band defines with the cylinder three working chambers. Two separating members mounted on the cylinder are biased into contact with the band. When the rotary body is rotated the band makes nonslip contact with the wall and rotates the working chambers about the axis of the rotary body. Each separating member separates each working chamber as it passes into two discrete enclosures. A port is located on each side of each separating member to allow communication with the two discrete enclosures. The machine can be operated as a compressor when the rotary body is driven or as an engine to drive the rotary body.

  • Patent number: 4327570
Abstract: For bending strip material into toothed shape, the strip is introduced once into a pair of toothed jaws and a bending member is moved from one end position to another to bend the strip about one end tooth, one end flank of which is exposed. The strip is removed and then similarly bent about another end tooth, in a preferably mirror-image arranged part of the apparatus, in an opposite bending direction, thereby to form a tooth in the strip. The bending steps are repeated as often as necessary. The invention is particularly applicable to the forming of a toothed band from a plane sheet metal strip.

  • Patent number: 4325527
Abstract: A vehicle seat has a subframe carrying an adjustment device which adjusts a eat portion by lifting it and moving it simultaneously forward. The adjustment device includes two linkages at the front and rear of the subframe respectively for supporting the front and rear of the seat portion. Each linkage carries a segment. A pawl is engageable with the segment to lock the linkage against movement thereby also locking the seat portion against movement. A spring biases the rear linkage with respect to the subframe to raise the seat portion upwardly. The segment of the front linkage forms a separate pivotal link in the linkage.

  • Patent number: 4312537
Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a subframe arranged to be secured to the vehicle or and an upper frame mounted on the subframe by four pivotal levers to form two pairs of parallelogram linkages and so constrain movement of the upper frame relative to the lower frame along an arcuate path.A pair of mounting plates carrying a back rest are pivotally secured to opposite sides of the upper frame. A pair of control levers couple the mounting plates to respective levers in a manner such that when the mounting plates are pivoted by tilting the back rest forward into a horizontal attitude, the upper frame is caused to move along its arcuate path and so draw the back rest forward to allow greater access to the area behind the back rest.
