Publication number: 20020167954Abstract: A communication system includes a plurality of network nodes and communication links that link the network nodes to form a high bandwidth backbone network. At least one of the communication links forms a point-to-multipoint communications link between two network nodes. At least one of the network nodes has a point-to-multipoint remote device at one end the point-to-multipoint communications link. At least one of the network nodes has a point-to-multipoint sector transceiver at the other end of the communications link for transmitting in a sectored point-to-multipoint downstream communications link with remote devices, including the linked point-to-multipoint remote device at the network node and receiving data from the point-to-multipoint remote device at the network node in a point-to-multipoint upstream communications link.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2002Publication date: November 14, 2002Applicant: P-COM, Inc.Inventors: William R. Patent number: 6356596Abstract: Two input binary signals are sampled in preparation for being encoded into one signal. The encoded signal is provided with one of the three discrete states based on the sample binary states of the two input signals. A first discrete state is provided if the sampled binary state of the first input signal is a first of two binary states. A second discrete state is provided if the sampled binary state of the first input signal is a second of two binary states, and if two sampled binary states of the second input signal are the same. A third discrete state is provided if the sampled binary state of the first input signal is a second of two binary states, and of the two sampled binary states of the second input signal are different. A corresponding decoding method is also described.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1998Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: P-Com, Inc.Inventors: Fabrizio Montauti, Daran Wang, Alessandro Vannucchi

Patent number: 5963585Abstract: A method for demodulating a received spread-spectrum signal using a minimum-shift-keyed (MSK) receiver. Using the method, an in-phase-component and a quadrature-phase-component of the received spread-spectrum signal are processed and combined in such a way as to estimate data of the received-spread-spectrum signal.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1998Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: P-Com, Inc.Inventors: Jimmy K. Patent number: 5630212Abstract: Structure for controlling the output power from a microwave transmitter uses a digital value transmitted under control of software to an outdoor unit of a transmitter thereby to allow the power output of the transmitter to be changed under control of the software. The digital value is generated by an indoor unit of the transmitter or a remote transmitter across a link or elsewhere in a network. Other parameters of the transmitter can also be varied under control of the software. These parameters include the frequency and muting as well as the generation of test signals at the transmitter. In one embodiment, the outdoor unit contains a non-volatile memory in which the digital value is stored and a microprocessor which generates a control signal from the digital value to set the output power of the transmitter. Software executed by the microprocessor can correct the control signal for temperature so that the output power of the transmitter does not change when outdoor temperature changes.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1995Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Assignee: P-Com, Inc.Inventor: Gideon Ben-Efraim

Patent number: 5603109Abstract: An automatic frequency control circuit measures the deviation in frequency of a selected signal from a reference frequency and when the deviation exceeds a selected threshold which is variable, steps the frequency of the selected signal back to the proper frequency. The selected signal is typically an intermediate frequency (IF) signal in a radio receiver. For detection of frequency deviation, an exclusive OR (EX-OR) circuit receives a reference signal having a frequency proportional to a desired IF carrier frequency and an input signal having a frequency proportional to an actual IF frequency. A divider coupled to a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) used in demodulation of the IF signal provides the input signal. An output signal of the EX-OR circuit includes a component with a frequency proportional to the difference between the actual and desired IF frequencies. A low pass filter isolates that component, and a charge pump generates a control voltage proportional to the frequency of that component.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 1994Date of Patent: February 11, 1997Assignee: P-Com, Inc.Inventor: Stuart M. Patent number: 5508712Abstract: A microwave guide interface extends between a rear surface of a microwave antenna reflector and a facing surface of a base plate. An interconnect member having a ball surface extends rearwardly from the rear of the reflector. A second interconnect member having a ball-receiving socket extends forwardly from a facing surface of the base plate. A spring clamp is attached to a periphery of the base plate and includes a yoke coacting with a strike hook on a circular rib or on separate lugs extending from the rear of the reflector for cinching up the socket into abutting contact with the mating ball surface. A peripheral O-ring extends between peripheral surfaces of the members allows tilting of the assembly such that assembly and alignment can be made over a fairly wide range of angular tolerances of the base plate and reflector.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 1994Date of Patent: April 16, 1996Assignee: P-Com, Inc.Inventors: James C.
