Abstract: Novel thioether compounds are disclosed which are useful as flavoring materials to enhance or impart meat-like flavors to foodstuffs. These compounds have the general formula ##STR1## where X can be, under specified conditions, --CH.sub.2 --, oxygen, or sulfur, Y can be oxygen or sulfur and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are hydrogen or 1 to 3 carbon alkyl groups.

Abstract: 1-Crotonoyl-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexane occurs in four stereoisomeric forms. In particular the trans, E and cis, E isomers having interesting organoleptic properties and are useful in the preparation of perfume compositions. Processes for preparing the stereoisomers, in a pure form or as mixtures, are described.
Abstract: New chemical compounds are disclosed having the general formula ##STR1## where X and Y are oxygen or sulfur and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are hydrogen or lower alkyl groups. The compounds are useful in a variety of flavoring applications.

Abstract: Mono- and dialkyl-resorcylic esters of the general formula ##SPC1##Wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical containing up to three carbon atoms, R.sup.2 represents an alkyl radical (preferably a lower alkyl radical such as methyl or ethyl) and R.sup.3 represents methyl or ethyl, are prepared by reacting the corresponding dihydroresorcylic esters having the general formula ##SPC2##With organic N-haloamides. Halocaprolactams, and especially N-chlorocaprolactam, are preferred reactants.
