Patents Assigned to Pabst Brewing Company
  • Patent number: 4247633
Abstract: An all-in-one reagent is provided for the quantitative colorimetric determination of creatine phosphokinase in blood serum or plasma wherein the tetrazolium dye, 2-(p-iodophenyl)-3-(p-nitrophenyl)-5-phenyl tetrazolium chloride (INT), preferably together with an electron transport such as diaphorase, and compatible substances which are enzymatically converted by creatine phosphokinase to an end product that will reduce said dye from its normally colorless state to a colored reduced state are combined into a homogeneous composition which can be dried to a stable reagent.

  • Patent number: 4138499
Abstract: A low dextrin and low carbohydrate beer having reduced calories is produced by fermenting wort with yeast in the absence of readily fermentable carbohydrates so that the yeast act on fermentable ingredients in the wort other than readily fermentable carbohydrates. After fermenting a major portion of fermentable ingredients, there is added to the resulting alcoholic wort a quantity of one or more readily fermentable sugars and fermentation is continued until the real degree of fermentation is at least 80%. By this process a low calorie beer can be prepared without the use of a carbohydrate splitting enzyme such as amyloglucosidase.

  • Patent number: 4128637
Abstract: Thymosin is produced by an improved process in which thymus glands are coarse ground, extracted in saline solution which is filtered and the filtrate or extract is injected with steam for a brief period of time to denature undesired proteins without denaturing the thymosin, whereby a precipitate is formed which is separated by filtration. The filtrate is concentrated and cooled and crude thymosin is precipitated by adding the concentrate to acetone.
