Abstract: A sheet metal nut made having a scalloped construction including a tubular barrel portion having a plurality of alternate radially inwardly and radially outwardly and axially extending lobes with a thread formed on the inner lobes which thread form is circumferentially interrupted by virtue of the radial displacement between inner and outer lobes and in one form of the invention the barrel portion having a ring with a continuous thread formed at its outer end to facilitate sealing.

Abstract: A laminated nut structure and method of making same with the nut structure having a plurality of coned disc washers having a common threaded bore with the disc washers being held in a cage having fingers gripping the disc washers with at least one of the disc washers being of a deformable material and the others being of a hard material with the threads in the portion of the bore defined by the one disc washer being deformed to provide a prevailing torque characteristic with the thread of an associated bolt portion and with at least one of the cage fingers having an opening in line with the one of the disc washers whereby it can be engaged by a tool to deform the thread at that location.

Abstract: A laminated nut comprising a plurality of conical spring disc washers and a cage for receiving and holding the disc washers in a stacked, aligned relationship to define a central opening threaded to be matably received upon an associated threaded bolt, including protrusion means extending radially, outwardly from the cage to inhibit gripping of the nut by a wrenching tool at one axial end whereby the nut will only be threaded onto the bolt by the wrenching tool beginning with the opposite end of said nut.

Abstract: A nut and stud assembly for securing workpieces via threaded engagement of the stud with one of the workpieces and engagement of the nut with another of the workpieces and with the nut preassembled on the stud with the stud having a stop preventing the nut from advancing further on the stud until the stud has reached a preselected position in the one workpiece whereby the nut and stud assembly will function similarly to a headed bolt until the preselected position is attained and thereafter the stop will permit movement of the nut on the stud through such stop and be free running to function similarly to a separate nut and stud combination to a final clamp up of the workpieces.

Abstract: A nut and washer assembly comprising a nut structure and a washer member with the nut structure including a nut member and a cage gripping the nut member and having resilient tabs permitting insertion of the tabs into a washer bore with the tabs having protrusions for engaging a surface on the washer bore whereby the nut structure and washer member are held together as an assembly with the nut member being free spinning relative to the washer member.
