  • Patent number: 11407370
Abstract: A vehicle computer system (e.g., on-board vehicle computer system) obtains a fuel economy performance goal for a vehicle (e.g., an engine speed goal or a vehicle speed goal) that is based on a configuration of the vehicle; calculates a count of events in which a current value exceeds the goal; compares the count of events with a threshold count; and generates one or more notifications based at least in part on the comparison (e.g., for display on an operator interface). The vehicle computer system also calculates an engine speed and a vehicle speed score for a driver of the vehicle based at least in part on comparisons of current speeds with the speed goals. Scoring and other data may be displayed or stored for further processing.

  • Publication number: 20220243631
Abstract: Systems and methods for modulating power provided to a heating element of a vehicle exhaust system is provided. One system includes a controller controlling a switch, and an alternator having a first field terminal input, wherein the first field terminal input is connected to the switch. The system further includes a heating element connected to at least an output of the alternator. The controller is configured to determine a power demand for the electric heating element and modulate the first field terminal input to cause the alternator to provide power to the heating element according to the power demand.

  • Patent number: 11371409
Abstract: A fluid container includes a tank, a magnetic ring, and an adaptor coupled to the tank via an o-ring seal. The magnetic ring includes two half-ring portions that, when assembled, form a full magnetic ring. The fluid container can be used to store DEF or other fluids. Assembling the fluid container includes positioning the magnetic ring within a groove formed in an outer surface of a conduit of the tank, and threading the adaptor onto the conduit to lock the magnetic ring in place.

  • Patent number: 11363438
Abstract: Near field connection for secure tractor trailer communication, and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a system for wireless communication between a tractor and a trailer includes a first transceiver (TRX) attached to the tractor, and a second TRX attached to the trailer. An engagement between the tractor and the trailer brings the first TRX within an operational distance to the second TRX.

  • Patent number: 11352927
Abstract: A heavy duty truck includes a diesel engine that generates an exhaust gas flow and an exhaust after-treatment system for treatment of the exhaust gas flow. The exhaust after-treatment system includes at least one temperature sensor at an underbody SCR system within the exhaust after-treatment system and a DEF injector upstream of a close-coupled SCR system within the exhaust after-treatment system. The DEF injector is operated to inject DEF into the exhaust gas flow at a rate that varies as a function of a temperature measured by the temperature sensor.

  • Patent number: 11356425
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to systems, devices, and methods wherein dynamically generated symmetric keys are used for encryption and decryption of software updates for vehicles. The symmetric keys are dynamically generated using a combination of information that ties a given symmetric key to a specific combination of a vehicle and the devices installed therein. The dynamic generation of the symmetric keys also uses a piece of random data generated by an intermediary server, which allows the intermediary server to validate devices before providing the piece of random data and thereby control access to the software updates. Use of the techniques disclosed herein provide heightened security, control, safety, and reliability for over-the-air software updates for vehicles.
