Abstract: A temperature detecting system includes a temperature sensor which permits a current to flow whose magnitude is substantially proportional only to the temperature of the sensor. The sensor can be coupled via cables and slip rings to a fixed display unit. The slip rings permit the temperature sensing unit to be located at a desired depth in a fluid for sensing the temperature thereof. The sensed temperature is substantially independent of impedance variations of the slip rings or associated brushes due to wear or corrosion.
Abstract: A locking and releasing mechanism for a fishing line release adapted for use with a downrigger cable is disclosed. This device includes a housing adapted to receive a downrigger cable and a locking shaft for selective engagement with the downrigger cable. The device provides selective attachment and release of a plurality of stacked locking and releasing mechanisms and their associated fishing line releases to and from the downrigger cable allowing the downrigger cable to be continuously reeled into a boat.
Abstract: A downrigger fishing system is disclosed which includes a pair of coacting mounting arrangements. This system includes a frame assembly which rotatably supports a downrigger line reel, and a downrigger arm attached to the frame assembly for guiding the downrigger line. Not only may the downrigger system be mounted in a conventional fashion to a suitable downrigger mounting plate, but the system further includes an additional mounting arrangement so that the assembly may be readily and releasably secured to the oarlock of a rowboat or similar small craft. In this way, the downrigger system may be conveniently used for trolling in relatively shallow water or other places where relatively small craft are best suited.
Abstract: An elongated downrigger system having a relatively long extension arm for safely positioning the downrigger lines far from the propeller and hull of a boat. The elongated downrigger system is equipped with a movable carriage assembly to permit the weighted end of the downrigger line to be readily grasped when it is desired to attach a fishing line, bait or lure, even though the extension arm is much longer than the average length of a human arm. The carriage assembly has a glide member, such as a roller, to ride upon the long extension arm and has at least one cable guide, such as a pulley, to guide the carriage assembly on the cable. A drive member is secured to the downrigger cable and engages a driven member on the carriage assembly to drive and move the carriage assembly to an inward attachment position when the cable is wound upon the downrigger reel.
