Abstract: Provided is a preformed artificial nail designed to conform to the wearer's natural fingernail. The artificial nail includes an elongated nail body that extends between a proximate edge intended to abut against the cuticle and a distal edge intended to extend beyond the wearer's fingertip. To allow the nail body to conform to the curve of the natural fingernail between the sides, the thickness of the nail body increases from the proximate edge to the distal edge. The relatively thinner proximate edge provides that region of the nail body with an inherent flexibility that allows the nail body to deflect and conform to the natural fingernail. The relatively thicker distal edge provides that region of the nail body with an inherent rigidity and, relatedly, additional strength to the portion of the nail body intended to extend beyond the fingertip.

Abstract: A preformed artificial nail assembly comprising an artificial nail sized to correspond to at least a portion of said natural nail, and an application tab extending from the distal end of the artificial nail, the application tab having a neck portion and a body portion, said neck portion being disposed between the body portion and the distal end of the artificial nail, the body portion being disposed at an angle to the artificial nail such that the body may be readily grasped by the user to facilitate placement of the artificial nail on the natural nail. Embodiments includes a tab that twists from the connection to the artificial nail to the tab body, and a tab or gating structure that extends from the bottom surface of the artificial nail.

Abstract: A preformed artificial nail assembly comprising a pair of artificial nails sized to correspond to at least a portion of said natural nail, and an application tab assembly extending between the pair of artificial nails. The application tab assembly includes a body portion and a neck portion adjacent each said artificial nail, said neck portion being disposed between the body portion and the distal end of the artificial nail. The application tab assembly may include an area of weakness that allows the assembly to be separated into two separate tabs, one adjacent each of the artificial nails of the pair. The user my utilize the application tab assembly as a single unit to place the nails, or separate the assembly into to separate tabs to allow the user to place the nails utilizing separate tabs.

Abstract: A kit of preformed artificial nails or tips is disclosed comprising a plurality of artificial nails or tips, a dispenser comprising a container containing fluid and a brush assembly comprising a brush extending from a base, the brush assembly being adapted to be coupled to the container with the brush extending outward therefrom. The base comprises at least one opening therethrough wherein the at least one opening is adapted to allow the fluid to flow across the brush when the brush assembly is coupled to the container and the container is open to permit the flow of fluid. The container is provided with a cover that seals the fluid inside of the container until such time as the integrity of the cover is disturbed by puncturing, removal, or the like. The kit further comprises a package containing the artificial nails, the dispenser, and the applicator cap.

Abstract: A color matching system for the identification of desirable nail color configuration for a given user's characteristics, comprising a combination of a rendition comprising at least one user identifier and at least one corresponding nail color configuration identifier to be associated with said user identifier, and at least one of a bottle of nail polish and/or a plurality of artificial nails corresponding to said nail color configuration identifier. The at least one user identifier may be in the form of either graphic or written identification of user characteristics such as skin tone, user foundation color, and user ethnicity. The at least one corresponding nail color configuration identifier comprises an identifier unique to one or a group of nail colors, and may be one or more of an identifier such as a name, identifying number, type, or indicia of a nail polish color, an artificial nail, a product decoration, product number, package or package insert color or shape, or graphic representation of color.

Abstract: A packaging arrangement for preformed artificial nails and/or nail tips that includes a display that presents the profile contour of at least one nail, wherein the display includes a card having a front wall and at least one side wall, the front wall including at least one opening therethrough that supports said nail in profile contour. Embodiments of the display include a U-shaped cross-section, a second wall disposed substantially parallel to the front wall and having a mating opening for supporting the nail, indicia on the front wall, and two nested U-shaped cross-section structures.

Abstract: A preformed artificial nail and nail tip for attachment to a natural wherein the shape of a free edge of the artificial nail or nail tip does not conform to the shape of a free edge possible with a typical natural nail. More specifically, the side edges of the free edge portion of the preformed artificial nail or preformed artificial nail tip flare out at least 5° from the side edge line of the artificial nail at the nail bed portion, or the width of the distal edge of the free edge portion is preferably at least 5% wider than the width of the artificial nail or tip at the transition from the nail bed portion to the free edge portion. The preformed artificial nail or nail tip may further flatten slightly at the distal end of the free edge.
