Patent number: 5848739Abstract: A pump type fluid dispenser comprises an outer barrel closed at its lower end with a plunger slidably mounted in the upper end of the barrel. A dispensing spout for the fluid within the combined chamber of the barrel and plunger is located at the upper end of the plunger. A leakage collection chamber is disposed around the plunger between the piston head of the plunger and the top of the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1997Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Package Research, Inc.Inventor: William T. Patent number: 5547107Abstract: A dispenser for flowable materials includes an outer barrel which is telescoped over a plunger. A piston head may be separate and distinct member from the plunger itself and may be prepackaged in the barrel with the material to be dispensed located in a chamber above the piston head. When the barrel is telescoped over the plunger, the piston head seats on the plunger and forces fluid from a dispensing spout in the barrel. The piston head carries a sealing rim which creates a seal as the barrel is moved downwardly on the plunger. The barrel may be in the form of a cartridge mounted in a jacket-like holder with a seal between the cartridge and holder.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1993Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Package Research, Inc.Inventor: Mario Boiardi

Patent number: 5253787Abstract: A dispenser for a fluid substance, such as toothpaste, includes an elongated tube having an open top and an open bottom with a chamber therebetween for holding the substance. A bottom closure is mounted to the open bottom to close the open bottom. The bottom closure is longitudinally movable in a sealing manner in the open bottom to press against the substance and to move into the chamber as the substance is being dispensed. A flexible membrane sealing closes the open top of the tube. A nozzle extends through the membrane having a longitudinal passageway communicating with the chamber for dispensing the substance when the nozzle is moved to a dispensing orientation. The membrane is made of a stretchable resilient material so that the nozzle may be titled to the dispensing orientation and thereby stretch the membrane and force the membrane into the chamber to reduce the size of the chamber and cause a portion of the substance to flow through the nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1992Date of Patent: October 19, 1993Assignee: Package Research CorporationInventors: William T. Wilkinson, John J. Nelson

Patent number: 5092496Abstract: A dispenser for flowable materials, such as toothpaste, includes a hollow barrel in the form of a tube open at its lower end and closed at its upper end with the flowable material being inserted in the tube. A plunger which is also in the form of a hollow tube having a closed upper end, is telescopically arranged in the barrel. A seal is effected by a hinged peripheral rim on the outer surface of the piston near its upper end. The flow of the material forces the peripheral rim to pivot into sealing contact with the inner surface of the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1991Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Package Research Corp.Inventors: Harold R. Gayle, William T. Wilkinson, Mario Boiardi

Patent number: 4858785Abstract: A dispenser for two distinct fluids includes a container having a chamber for each of the fluids. The fluid chambers communicate with a mixing chamber at the top of the container leading to a dispensing spout. Mixing ports in the wall of the mixing chamber permit the fluids to mix before being dispensed from the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Package Research CorporationInventor: William T. Patent number: 4742940Abstract: A dispenser for flowable materials such as toothpaste includes a hollow barrel in the form of a cylinder open at its lower end and closed at its upper end with the flowable material being inserted in the cylinder. A plunger, which is also in the form of a hollow cylinder open at its lower end and closed at its upper end is telescopically arranged in the cylinder so that upon telescopic movement of the plunger in the barrel, flowable material is dispensed from a spout at the upper portion of the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1986Date of Patent: May 10, 1988Assignee: Package ResearchInventor: William T.
