  • Patent number: 6116467
Abstract: A system and process for dispensing liquid beverage having a containing vessel, a pouch within a cavity of the containing vessel, a spout connected to the pouch, and a dispensing valve connected to the pouch for controlling the flow of liquid from an interior pocket of the pouch. The pouch of the system has a first panel and a second panel heat sealed together at their respective bottom and opposing side panels to form an interior pocket between the first and second panels. The interior pocket is bounded at the sides and bottom thereof, but has an open top to provide an ingress thereinto for filling the pouch. The system provides a clean and sanitary means for containing and dispensing liquid products.

  • Patent number: 6053360
Abstract: A fitment for a flexible container and method of using the same, especially suitable for use with a dispensing system having a peristaltic pump. The fitment having a generally cylindrical base assembly and an outlet port for providing access to the contents of the container, and a spout body dimensioned to attach to the base assembly to form a fluid flow path between the base assembly and spout body. A cap and barrier material may also be provided to seal the outlet port of the container and protect against contamination.

  • Patent number: 5810059
Abstract: According to a preferred embodiment, a machine for filling containers, such flexible plastic bags, with fluid product, such a liquid food product, uses two container fill nozzles that each has a product supply system. While one of the nozzles is being used to fill containers that are being moved through the machine, the other nozzle and its product supply system is being cleaned. For the cleaning, at least one receptacle is provided to receive a nozzle being cleaned. Any product remaining in the delivery system and nozzle is flushed out through the receptacle in which the nozzle is inserted, and those portions cleaned. Fresh product is then loaded back into the delivery system and dispensed through the nozzle into the containers. This system and these operating techniques allow the product to be changed frequently without having to suffer a significant down time of the filling machine for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5697410
Abstract: A spout fitment attached to a liquid filled bag, or other fluid container, of a type having a slidable dispensing valve member to receive a line connector for establishing a fluid path from an interior of the container, through a valve element in the line connector and into a service line attached to the line connector. Although the dispensing valve member is slid into the container when the line connector is inserted therein, the sliding motion does not form the container valve action. The container seal is established by a valve element within the slidable dispensing valve member that is resiliently biased to close an opening therein. The dispensing valve member thus need not be slid in the fitment when the line connector is removed from the dispensing valve member, thereby making it easier to remove and reinsert the line connector. Insertion of the line connector within the dispensing valve member causes their respective valve elements to engage each other to open and form the fluid flow path.

  • Patent number: 5427306
Abstract: Corrugated paper blanks for cooperatively forming a six wall box, and a box formed from the paper blanks are disclosed. The box formed from a body blank 10 and two side blanks 100 has two side walls, two end walls 32 and 36, a bottom wall 34, a top wall cooperatively formed by two top panels 30 and 38, a door 52 in one of the end walls 36, and a plurality of horizontally spaced perforations 74 between a distal end of the door 52 and the bottom wall 34 to minimize tears along the paperboard corrugations upon compression of the box. The box also has positioning slots 76 on one or both of its end walls 32 and 36 at opposite sides of the box to aid in moving the box while on a shelf or otherwise.

  • Patent number: 4187662
Abstract: A rotor provided with a plurality of air holes therethrough is driven by a vertically mounted shaft. The rotor is disposed beneath a stator provided with two plenums or manifolds on opposite sides thereof. One plenum is pressurized while the other plenum is maintained at a reduced pressure. The rotor is positioned above a bottle line which conveys bottles having tape thereon which must be removed prior to filling the bottles. The vacuum plenum causes the tape to be lifted from the bottles and drawn against the rotor. As the rotor turns it reaches the pressurized plenum where reverse air flow causes the tape to drop into a collecting receptacle.
