  • Patent number: 6987766
Abstract: A method and system for transporting SONET signals over an optical telecommunications network, the method including generating a ComBus signal, including payload data, J1/C1 and synchronous payload envelope (SPE), per SONET path, Smart extracting of data from the ComBus signal (J1 detection and N/P detection), gathering the payload data and J1 into short packets, adding a packet header to each short packet, transporting the short packets to a destination, and generating C1 and SPE at the destination so as to reconstruct the SONET signals out of the ComBus signal.

  • Publication number: 20040109408
Abstract: A method and system for protecting packets which include services, transported over an optical communication network, against traffic loss of more than 50 milliseconds, the method including: selecting a sub-network of the network; defining a protection scheme in the sub-network; utilizing a standard protocol for failure detection and identification and protection; defining connections between an A side and a Z side in the network, passing through at least one selected network element in said sub-network; automatically adding entries in switching tables of said selected network elements for a working state of said sub-network connections; and adding pre-defined entries in said switching tables for a protection state for each network element in the sub-network.
