  • Patent number: 8095153
Abstract: A system and a method generate a recommendation on a mobile device. The system and the method may use a time, a location, a venue and/or an event to generate the recommendation. Further, the system and the method may use an event database to determine current interests of the user. Still further, the system and the method for generating a recommendation on a mobile device may use a transactional history of the user and/or behavior of other users to generate the recommendation. The system and the method may recommend, for example, digital media, news and event information, editorial content and/or physical or digital merchandise. As a result, the system and the method may generate a recommendation that corresponds to the current interests of the user.

  • Patent number: 7808988
Abstract: A system and a method connect mobile devices via channels which connect a first terminal and a second terminal. A bearer establishment of the connection is identified by the first terminal and/or the second terminal. The first terminal accesses information to identify the second terminal and/or to select a first codec for data to transmit the data in the first codec between the terminals. The first terminal alternatively chooses a first codec without accessing the information. The data in the first codec is transmitted from the first terminal to the second terminal without an exchange of codec capabilities and/or codec preferences. The second terminal is capable of receiving the data sent in the first codec. Alternatively, the second terminal may be incapable of receiving the data sent in the first codec. The first terminal uses capability and/or preference information received from the second terminal to detect cases whether the second terminal is incapable of receiving the data in the first codec.

  • Patent number: 7676591
Abstract: A system and a method transfer multiple data channels between a server and a terminal via a stream session over a network. The system and the method utilize a bitstream switching, a fast buffer filling and/or a fast playback start to facilitate a switch from a first data channel and a second data channel. The first data channel and/or the second data channel is delivered to and/or is transferred to the terminal from the server over the network via a streaming session. The server transfers second data of the second data channel to the terminal via one or more tracks which are encoded at more than one bitrate and/or are configured in one or more configurations. The terminal requests a change between the first track and/or the second track without terminating the stream session for the first data channel between the terminal and the server. As a result, the system and/or the method minimizes the delay period of time between requesting the switch to the second data channel and displaying the second data channel.

  • Patent number: 7006631
Abstract: The present invention is a method and system which extracts, manipulates and embeds data from a compressed and standard compliant video bitstream which may be used for digital rights management, e.g. controlling access to a bitstream or for authenticating a video bitstream. The method embeds binary data bits into compressed and standard compliant video bitstream with minimal visual artifacts. The method first parses the compressed video bitstream and locates coded blocks. The codeword C for the last triplet in the original block(RUNc,LEVELc, LASTc=1) is replaced by the VLC code word C? for the last triplet (RUNC,LEVELC, LASTC?=0). A codeword corresponding to a triplet with LAST=1 is placed after C? whose sign bit ā€œsā€ can be either 0 or 1 and is an embedded data bit, and can be used for authentication.
