Abstract: A post in a modular pallet includes a male part and a female part shaped to receive the male part along a predetermined axis. Complementary locking structure, such as mating screw thread segments or mating ratchet teeth, are formed with the male and female parts and interlock progressively to resist relative axial separation of the parts when the pans are placed in a predetermined locked orientation. Complementary detent structures resist displacement of the parts from their locked orientation toward an unlocked orientation in which the parts separate axially.
