Abstract: An assembly and nozzle suitable ice dam abatement and other spraying applications is disclosed. A fluid spraying assembly as disclosed can include a nozzle through which fluid can pass and having an inlet and an outlet, and a depth gauge positioned adjacent to the outlet. The nozzle can discharge the fluid out of the outlet in a spray direction during operation. The depth gauge can include a shaft and a thermal insulator. The shaft can extend from the nozzle in the spray direction, can have an elongate shape, and can have a distal end that is spaced from the outlet in the spray direction. The thermal insulator can be positioned at least at the distal end of the shaft and can be a thermal insulating ball having a diameter that is greater than a width of the shaft and smaller than a width of the nozzle at the outlet.
