Patents Assigned to Panasonic Liquid Crystal Co., Ltd.
  • Patent number: 10281785
Abstract: There is provided a liquid crystal display device that enables increasing the capacitance between a pixel electrode and a common electrode without bringing about a significant decrease in the pixel aperture ratio. An In-Plane Switching LCD device in which a drain signal is supplied from one drain signal line to two pixel columns is configured such that there is a section having no drain signal line between adjacent pixels and a source electrode which is connected to a pixel electrode of a thin-film transistor extends into a contiguous pixel region that does not serve as an effective pixel region to provide one electrode of a capacitive element. A common electrode is formed in each pixel and the one electrode of the capacitive element is laid overlapping the common electrode with an insulation film intervening therebetween.

  • Patent number: 8908133
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal display panel including pixels each having an active device, a pixel electrode, a common electrode and a liquid crystal layer arranged in a dot matrix array. The liquid crystal display panel has a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal layer provided between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first substrate has the active device, the pixel electrode, the common electrode and a first alignment film. The second substrate has a second alignment film. The first alignment film and the second alignment film are respectively a photo alignment film formed by irradiating a photo decomposition type insulating film with light. The second alignment film has a thickness of at least 10 nm and no greater 50 nm and is thinner than the first alignment film.

  • Patent number: 8803169
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, and a backlight unit. The backlight unit includes a plurality of light emitting diodes each having an anode and a cathode, and first adjacently and disposed substrates. The plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted on the first substrate and the second substrate and arranged in a plurality of rows. A first light emitting diode mounted on the first substrate and a second light emitting diode mounted on the second substrate which are adjacent across a boundary between the first substrate and the second substrate are disposed so that respective anodes of the first and second light emitting diodes are opposed to each other and have a pitch equal to or smaller than a pitch of other light emitting diodes mounted on the first and second substrates.

  • Patent number: 8564752
Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal disposed between the first substrate having first signal lines and second signal lines defining pixel regions and the second substrate. The pixel regions include a first transparent electrode, and a second transparent electrode which is overlapped with the first electrode through an insulating layer. The second transparent electrode is elongated so as to extend to plural pixel regions in overlapping relation with the first signal line which extends in plural pixel regions, and at least one strip-shaped opening portion is delimited between adjacent second transparent electrodes arranged in an extension direction of the first signal line, the at least one strip-shaped opening portion being formed in overlapping relation with the second signal line. A metal line is connected to the second transparent electrode, the metal line being elongated to extend to plural pixel regions.
