Abstract: This system provides for communications between several different types of wireless networks and a mobile node. The system provides various services from a wireless network to a mobile node which is not covered by that wireless network without exhaustion of the mobile node battery. According to this system, the mobile node sends an update message to a currently accessible network node, which transfers the update message to the same or different types of nearby network nodes with incrementing the hop count for every transfer. The different type of network node that has received the update message checks whether the hop count decreases from that previously received, judges that the mobile node is approaching if the hop count decreases, and sends the guide message to the mobile node via the same and different types of networks.

Abstract: A semiconductor light-emitting device includes: a support; a semiconductor light-emitting element bonded to the support and comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, and a semiconductor layer including at least an active layer, at least one of the first and second electrodes overlying the semiconductor layer; and a wiring metal formed to extend from above a portion of an upper surface of the support not underlying the semiconductor light-emitting element to one said electrode overlying the semiconductor layer. The electrode is fed with power through the wiring metal.
Abstract: A receiving device receives a plurality of first and second program information. The first program information is information relating to each of broadcasting scheduled programs within a predetermined time period from the date of transmission of a broadcasting signal by a broadcasting station apparatus. The second program information is information relating to a broadcasting scheduled program in the future after a predetermined time period from the date of transmission of the broadcasting signal. A controller in the receiving device stores, when there is a reservation based on the second program information, the reserved second program information in a reservation information storage. Thereafter, the controller compares the reserved second program information with a plurality of first program information newly received, and determines whether or not there is first program information that coincides with the second program information.
Abstract: By an electronic component mounting method for electrically connecting bumps to board electrodes, in a contact process for placing a thermosetting resin in a liquid glob state on the board surface and bringing the lower surface of the electronic component into contact with the thermosetting resin, the bumps are pressurized against the electrodes in positional alignment in a liquid glob distribution state where one portion of the liquid glob is arranged inside an electronic component mounting region and a remaining portion greater in liquid measure than the one portion is arranged outside the electronic component mounting region. The thermosetting resin enters into a gap between the electronic component and the board by capillarity in a thermocompression bonding process. This prevents voids occurring in the sealing resin, reinforces bonded portions of bumps and electrodes with thermally cured thermosetting resin, thereby preventing bonded portion breakage due to thermal stress generated during cooling.
Abstract: A method for performing a scheduling algorithm with minimum resource scheduling in a mobile communication system, comprising the steps of scheduling (10) allocation units for a user or service in a scheduling frame, checking whether (20) the allocation units scheduled for a user or service in a particular scheduling frame meet a resource constraint, and releasing the allocation units (40) scheduled for a user or service for that particular scheduling frame for based on the result of the checking step for resource constraint. The invention also concerns a scheduler in a mobile communication system, a base station and mobile terminal comprising such a scheduler and a mobile communication system.

Abstract: A data recording system 1 includes: a file generating part 3 for dividing digital data so as to generate a plurality of data files and recording the plurality of the data files sequentially into a recording medium 5; a management file judging part 6 for determining one management file for recording management information of the plurality of the data files; and a management information generating part 4 for recording the management information of the plurality of the data files into the determined management file. The management file judging part 6 determines the management file such that the number of the data files managed by the management file does not exceed a maximum data file number L (L is a natural number) that can be managed by the management file. Thereby, it is possible to record the plurality of the data files that are divided from the digital stream data and are recorded, such that the management of the plurality of the data files is easy.
Abstract: Performing sequential recording to alternate destinations of an information recording medium and improving access performance of accessing the information recording medium are achieved by estimating sequential defective areas of the information recording medium based on prescribed conditions, allocating blocks of a spare area as alternate destinations of the defective areas, and performing alternate recording to the allocated alternate destinations, in response to a recording request to record information to the sequential defective areas. The above can be achieved because the use of the alternate destinations will help to prevent a time-out from occurring due to he the defective areas.
Abstract: A communicating apparatus for relaying a data communication between a first network and a second network, includes a receiving unit having an interface for a first network connection and serving to receive a packet from a terminal connected to the first network; and a control processor that acquires an IP address of the terminal from the packet received by the receiving unit, obtains a range of a subnet mask value which can be taken by the terminal based on the IP address, obtains a candidate for a host address corresponding to each subnet mask value, sets the host address candidate accessibly from the terminal, determines an estimated value of the subnet mask value of the terminal based on a state of the packet which is received from the terminal and is transmitted to the host address candidate, and sets the estimated value as a subnet mask value corresponding to an interface for the first network connection.
Abstract: A BD-ROM playback apparatus for selecting and playing back one among text subtitle streams together with a moving picture. PSR 48-61 store Decode Capability flags whose set values indicate, for each language, whether or not a decode capability is present. Procedure executing unit 20 judges whether each text subtitle stream can be displayed, by referring to each set value of flags. Stream selection unit 17 selects a text subtitle stream judged as being able to be decoded. Here, the decode capability for a language being present indicates presence of rendering capability for converting character codes of the language into bitmaps, and support capability for supporting properties of the language. The b16 to b23 in PSR 30 includes a permission flag indicating whether stream selection unit 17 is permitted to select an unsupported language for which rendering capability is present but not support capability.

Abstract: In ARQ where a plurality of mobile stations share and use a single channel for response signals (ACK/NACK signals), a wireless communication base station apparatus can prevent failure of the ARQ control. In this apparatus, a CRC part (114) performs an error detection using CRC for an uplink data, and generates, as a response signal, an ACK signal in a case of CRC=OK or a NACK signal in a case of CRC=NG. A retransmittal determining part (115) determines whether the response signal is for an initially transmitted data or for a retransmitted data. A constellation control part (116) controls, in accordance with a determination result of the retransmittal determining part (115), a constellation pattern to be used in a modulation in a modulating part (105).

Abstract: By performing plasma etching on the second surface of a semiconductor wafer on the first surface of which an insulating film is placed in dividing regions and on the second surface of which a mask for defining the dividing regions are placed, the second surface being located opposite from the first surface, the insulating film is exposed from an etching bottom portion by removing portions that correspond to the dividing regions. Subsequently, by continuously performing the plasma etching in the state in which the exposed surfaces of the insulating film are charged with electric charge due to ions in the plasma, corner portions put in contact with the insulating film are removed. Subsequently, by removing the mask and thereafter performing plasma etching on the second surface, corner portions located on the second surface side are removed.
Abstract: An object is to provide a resonator and a vibrator with a high Q value in which dissipation of vibration energy in vibration of the vibrator is small, and a thickness of a support part of the vibrator of a beam structure is made thicker than a thickness of the vibrator and the support part is formed in axisymmetry with respect to a length direction of a beam. By this configuration, brittleness of the support part is improved and loss of vibration energy from the support part is reduced and also loss of vibration energy resulting from surface roughness of a surface of the vibrator can be reduced, so that a resonator having a high Q value can be provided.

The radiation detector according to the present invention includes an Al2O3 substrate, a Fe2O3 thin film layered on the Al2O3 substrate, a CaxCoO2 (where 0.15<x<0.55) thin film that is layered on the Fe2O3 thin film and that has CoO2 planes that are aligned inclined to the surface of the Al2O3 substrate, a first electrode disposed on the CaxCoO2 thin film, and a second electrode disposed on the CaxCoO2 thin film in a position opposed to the first electrode in the direction in which the CoO2 planes are aligned inclined.
Abstract: A biosensor is disclosed comprising a support; a conductive layer composed of an electrical conductive material such as noble metal, for example gold or palladium, and carbon; slits parallel to and perpendicular to the side of the support; working, counter, and detecting electrodes; a spacer which covers the working, counter, and detecting electrodes on the support; a rectangular cutout in the spacer forming a specimen supply path; an inlet to the specimen supply path; a reagent layer formed by applying a reagent containing an enzyme to the working, counter, and detecting electrodes, which are exposed through the cutout in the spacer; and a cover over the spacer. The biosensor can be formed by a simple method, and provides a uniform reagent layer on the electrodes regardless of the reagent composition.
