Abstract: A game controller that includes at least removable gate. Preferably, the game controller has at least one joystick and a gate associated with that joystick can be easily replaced, either with a gate having the same shaped opening or a gate having a different sized and/or shaped opening. The gate is connected to the game controller via any type of suitable attachment that provides for quick and easy removal of the gate, such as snaps, fasteners, magnetic attraction, etc., even an adhesive.
Abstract: A game controller which comprises shell members that can be easily disconnected such that external shell components or controls of the game controller can be swapped out for shells, controls, etc. having different aesthetics. Preferably, magnets are used which provide that no tools are needed to take the shell apart.
Abstract: A game controller with onboard calibration. The game controller includes lights that illuminate to prompt the user to interact with the game controller by pressing one or more triggers and/or by moving one or more joysticks in certain directions. The game controller uses the inputs it receives from the user to calibrate the trigger(s) and/or joystick(s). The software which performs this calibration is onboard the game controller. The game controller can be calibrated without having to rely on any game console. The game controller can be calibrated while being connected to a game console, such as an older game console, that does not provide any type of game controller calibration mode for that game controller.
