Patent number: 6347716Abstract: A flip top closure has a tamper evident flap and is used on a container with a neck and an opening therein. the neck has an outer surface with retaining means for the closure thereon. The closure has two sections that are hinged to one another and with each section having a lip extending along an edge thereof. When the closures are in a closed position, the two lips form a continuous line of contact with one another and a flap extends across the line of contact. The flap is connected to one section by ultrasonic spot welding. The flap is severable from either or both sections. When the closure is opened the flap separates from one of the sections.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1998Date of Patent: February 19, 2002Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventors: Karl H. Patent number: 6112922Abstract: A tamper evident closure for use in the neck of a container has a plurality of severable connectors, connecting a tamper evident band with a hinged flange to the lower edge of a skirt. A support wall is located just inside the connectors where the connectors are attached to the lower edge. The connectors are strong enough to remain in tact during installation and transport, but weak enough to sever when the closure is subsequently removed from the container. The closure has severable connectors connecting a tamper evident band to a lower edge of a skirt. The connectors are at a 45.degree. angle relative to vertical when the container is in an upright position. In a further embodiment, a closure has a block seal that is thin enough to be easily removed from the mold in which the closure is formed without opening the mold in two directions. The block seal is thick enough to provide a solid seal between the closure and the container when the closure is installed on the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 1998Date of Patent: September 5, 2000Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventors: Karl H. Patent number: 5992659Abstract: A tamper evident flip top pouring closure is designed for use with a corresponding container. A tamper evident flip top pouring closure and container in combination has a closure with a screw thread thereon together with interlocking means and a container with the corresponding screw thread and corresponding interlocking means. The interlocking means prevents the removal of the closure from the container once the closure is installed on the container. The interlocking means on the closure are a series of tabs that are connected to the closure and extend inward at an angle. The interlocking means on the closure are two sets of saw-teeth having a gentle slope on one side and a steep slope on another side. The closure is then installed on the container and cannot be removed because the tabs abutt a steep slope of the saw-teeth and will not override the saw-teeth in a reverse direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1997Date of Patent: November 30, 1999Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventors: Karl H. Patent number: 5472106Abstract: A tamper resistant closure and a method of installing and removing that closure relative to a container where the container has a neck with external threads thereon and a ring located beneath the threads. The closure has a central portion with a periphery and a skirt extending from the periphery, a tear strip extending from the skirt, a tamper evident band extending from the tear strip and a movable flange extending from the band. The tear strip is affixed between the skirt and the band by a plurality of severable tabs. The flange is hinged to the tamper evident band and has equally spaced windows in it to make it flexible so that it can be stretched over the ring. When the closure is installed on the container, the flange is forced against an interior of the band and overrides the ring. Once the flange has overridden the ring, a free edge of the flange moves inward to rest against an outer surface of the neck beneath the ring.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1993Date of Patent: December 5, 1995Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventor: Karl H. Patent number: 4848613Abstract: A tamper-evident closure cap and corresponding container have projections on a skirt of the cap corresponding to projections on a neck of the container. The skirt is conencted to a remainder of the cap by a series of severable tabs. The projections are shaped to override one another when the cap is turned onto said container but to interlock with one another when the cap is turned off said container. When the projections interlock, the force exerted on the cap severs the tabs, thereby severing the skirt from the cap and providing evidence of tampering. The cap and container are operable over a wide rnage of tolerances and the tabs can be very small when compared to previous caps and containers.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 1988Date of Patent: July 18, 1989Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventor: Karl H. Patent number: 4461394Abstract: This invention relates to a closure cap, a container and to a closure cap and corresponding container in combination. As shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings, screw threads 14, 22 of a cap 2 and container 4 respectively each have sufficient alternate ridges 16, 27 and indentations 18, 28 over at least part of their length so that when the cap 2 and container 4 are in a closed position, at least one ridge on one screw thread can engage an indentation on the other screw thread. In another embodiment of the invention as shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, the screw thread of the cap is formed by a series of rounded projections 68 that are located adjacent to one another and overlap slightly with one another. The rounded projections 68 have a series of alternating rounded ridges and adjacent indentations.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1982Date of Patent: July 24, 1984Assignee: Pano Cap (Canada) LimitedInventors: Uwe Sendel, Karl Nofer
