Abstract: A telecommunication method based on transmission control protocol (TCP) includes setting an initial value of a congestion window according to a communication situation of a communication network to more efficiently use uncongested bandwidth of the communication network. An IP network access unit in a telecommunication network determines a congestion window value based on a predetermined reference, and transmits the determined congestion window value to the mobile telecommunication terminal. The mobile communication terminal receives the congestion window value, and performs a TCP access for data telecommunication using the initial congestion window value in a slow start algorithm of TCP in a mobile telecommunication environment. The bandwidth of telecommunication network may be more efficiently used by setting an initial value of the congestion window according to the telecommunication situation or available bandwidth.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal call history displays call distinguishing icons representing the types of calls performed with counterparts. The call types include sent and received voice calls, video calls, and messages. If a user selects one call distinguishing icon displayed on a mobile communication terminal's display unit, a voice call or a video call is sent to the counterpart or a screen on which a message can be written to the counterpart is displayed, according to the call type of the selected call distinguishing icon. The user can directly select a counterpart and the call type to be sent to the counterpart by selecting one of the call distinguishing icons displayed on the display unit. A desired call distinguishing icon can be selected by entering a command on a touch screen, a keypad, or by voice command.

Abstract: A system and a method for releasing quality of service (QoS) resources in a mobile communication network enable QoS resources allocated to a mobile terminal to be released, if, after the mobile terminal is allocated with resources for QoS through an Evolution-Data Optimized (EVDO) Revision A (rA) network to receive data serves, the mobile terminal escapes from the EVDO rA network without first performing a resource release request to the EVDO rA network. The system and method may be implemented in the mobile terminal, the access network, the text message server, or any combination thereof, for releasing the allocated QoS resources without requiring the mobile terminal to re-connect to the EVDO rA network.
Abstract: A method for displaying transmission status of a multimedia messaging service (MMS) message and a telecommunication terminal using the method, including displaying the currently transmitting content and transmission progress of the MMS message while the telecommunication terminal transmits the MMS message. A user can check the content of the MMS message being currently transmitted together with the transmission progress of the MMS message. The user also can cancel the transmission of the erroneous MMS message before completing the transmission of the MMS message.

Abstract: A beam forming method of a radio network controller includes receiving information related to beam forming, calculating a distance between the mobile terminal and a base station and velocity of the mobile terminal based on the information related to beam forming, determining whether to perform beam forming, and allocating second scrambling codes (SSCs) to sectors of a base station cell while performing beam forming. One SSC is allocated to only the sector in which the mobile terminal is located. A beam forming system to perform the method includes an information receiving unit to receive information related to beam forming, a position calculation unit to determine distance to and velocity of the mobile terminal, a beam forming determining unit, and a beam forming processing unit to allocate the SSCs to sectors while performing the beam forming.
Abstract: A hybrid mobile communication terminal includes a mode setting unit which sets a High Data Rate (HDR) power save mode and an indicator indicating the HDR power save mode when data service cannot be provided through a CDMA2000 1x EVDO (Evolution Data Only) system; and a data communication unit which attempts to acquire a CDMA2000 1x system or the EVDO system according to whether the indicator has been set by the mode setting unit. A method for acquiring a system for data service includes: setting an HDR power save mode and an indicator indicating the HDR power save mode when the data service cannot be provided through the EVDO system; determining whether the indicator has been set upon acquiring a system for the data, service; and attempting to acquire the 1x system or the EVDO system according to whether the indicator has been set.
Abstract: A mobile communications system includes a base station that performs packet data communications with a terminal. The base station includes a communication unit that receives a data rate control (DRC) value and a message from the terminal, the message including pilot channel information detected from a pilot channel signal sent to the terminal from the base station; a packet data generating unit that generates packet data according to the DRC value; and a control unit determines a number of active sets based on the pilot channel information, and dynamically controls a DRC length based on the determined number of active sets. Also, the control unit controls the communication unit to transmit the dynamically controlled DRC length information to the terminal. Accordingly, the DRC length is dynamically controlled to be more compatible with a wireless environment.

The mobile communication terminal includes: a radio frequency (RF) switching unit for determining whether a folder of the mobile communication terminal is opened or closed; a first intenna used when the RF switching unit determines that the folder is closed; and a second intenna used when the RF switching unit determines that the folder is opened.
Abstract: A method for transmitting a Rights Object (RO) includes generating a password key by encrypting a password, generating the RO using the password key, and transmitting the RO from a first device to a second device. The second device and the first device share the password and the second device generates the password key using the same encryption method as that used by the first device to generate the password key. The second device decrypts a Message Authentication Code (MAC) key and a Rights Object Encryption Key (REK) using the password key, decrypts a Content Encryption Key (CEK) using the decrypted REK, and verifies integrity of the RO using the decrypted MAC key. The second device can use and/or access content associated with the RO using the decrypted CEK. The CEK may be generated by the first device or may be the CEK from a Rights Issuer.
