Abstract: Disclosed is a technology associated with booting up a mobile communication terminal equipped with a user identification module (UIM). A method of improving the boot speed of a mobile communication terminal equipped with a UIM according to the present invention includes: a) handing over controllership, by a user interface (UI) task responsible for an initial UI process, to a UIM task in a process of reading a phonebook stored in the UIM during booting; b) setting parameters necessary for reading the phonebook stored in the UIM by the UIM task which has taken over the controllership from the UI task; c) reading records composing the phonebook one by one and copying each record into RAM by the UIM task after setting of the parameters is completed; and d) handing over the controllership to the UI task by the UIM task after the UIM task copies the records into the RAM.

Abstract: Disclosed are an electronic album management system, a computer-readable recording medium storing electronic album management data, a mobile communication terminal equipped with an electronic album management system, a data storage method for electronic album management and a data readout method for electronic album management. The electronic album management system includes: a frame extraction unit for extracting one frame for configuring an electronic album page from encoded data stored in a memory; a decoding unit for decoding the data extracted from the frame extraction unit; and a first data storage unit for storing the data decoded by the decoding unit in succession to the encoded data stored in the memory.

Abstract: Disclosed is an image/audio playback technology in a mobile communication terminal. According to the present invention, a single image is divided into two halves, i.e., left-half and right-half images, which are displayed on two mobile communication terminals, respectively. In addition, two mobile communication terminals can play left-side and right-side audio data, respectively, which compose stereo audio data, according to the relative locations of the two mobile communication terminals.

Abstract: Disclosed are a soft handoff system, a soft handoff method, and a mobile terminal equipped with the soft handoff system. The soft handoff system for a mobile terminal analyzes periodically monitored wireless conditions of neighbor base stations, transmits a PSMM (Pilot Strength Measurement Message) to a current base station when a condition arises that needs reporting to the current base station, and performs handoff operation by allocating/releasing wireless resources to/from a suitable base station according to an HDM (Handoff Direction Message) received from the current base station, wherein upon receiving the HDM from the current base station, the system allows a handoff drop timer of an active base station belonging to an active set having a pilot channel signal strength less than a predetermined value to continue running rather than to be reset until the handoff drop timer expires.

Abstract: Disclosed is a technology for preventing a legitimate terminal's user from being damaged due to the fraudulent usage of a cloned terminal. A mobile communication terminal transmits authentication information containing terminal usage time information to a wireless network according to a voice call connection procedure, and performs a voice call release process upon receiving an authentication failure message from the wireless network in response to the authentication information.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a mobile communication terminal equipped with a location-based short message service (SMS) system, a location-based message generation method and a location-based message display method. The mobile communication terminal having a location-based SMS (short message service) system includes a message sending module which receives from the message sender a message content, a telephone number of a mobile communication terminal of a designated message recipient, and a message mode, generates from location information received from the sender an SMS message containing the message content, mode identification information based on the message mode, and the location information if the message mode selected by the message sender is a location-based message mode rather than a general message mode, and sends to an SMS server the generated SMS message which is set to be forwarded to the telephone number of the message recipient's mobile communication terminal as a destination.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for monitoring a broadcast slot of a mobile station. The system includes a mobile station execution module, wherein the mobile station execution module comprises: a broadcast channel setup information storage unit for storing broadcast channel setup information including at least one channel identification information and a broadcast time of each broadcast channel; and a broadcast slot monitoring controller for turning broadcast slot monitoring on during a predetermined time corresponding to the broadcast time of each broadcast channel contained in the broadcast channel setup information, and turning broadcast slot monitoring off during non-broadcast times.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for transmitting and outputting data in voice communication over a traffic channel. The apparatus includes: a signal generator for generating a low frequency signal corresponding to a key signal inputted during voice communication; a signal synthesizer for synthesizing the low frequency signal and a voice signal; a radio communication unit for transmitting the synthesized signal over the traffic channel; a signal separator for separating a low frequency signal from a signal received and processed by the radio communication unit; and a data output unit for detecting a frequency of the separated low frequency signal and outputting data indicated by the detected frequency.

Abstract: Disclosed is an SMS management system equipped with an additional data transfer function. The SMS management system includes a message transmission module, wherein the message transmission module includes: a capacity calculating unit for calculating the volume of the message content entered by the message input unit and calculating a residual capacity by deducting the volume from the maximum capacity of a short message; an additional data processing unit for attaching additional data to the short message within the limit of the residual capacity calculated by the capacity calculating unit; and a message transmission unit for transmitting the short message with the attached additional data processed by the additional data processing unit to the recipient's mobile station number entered by the number input unit.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method of controlling packet service setup and a mobile communication system. The method includes the steps of: transmitting a packet service request message containing a requested QoS to a packet service node by a mobile communication terminal; transmitting to the mobile communication terminal a packet service request response message including an assigned QoS determined in consideration of the requested QoS and network resources contained in the message received by the packet service node; comparing one or more parameter values among parameters contained in the assigned QoS contained in the packet service request response message from a mobile communication network with corresponding one or more parameter values among parameters contained in the QoS requested by the mobile communication terminal; and transmitting a packet service cancel request message if a difference between the parameter values is greater than or equal to a preset value.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for processing a call in a mobile communication terminal supporting a multi-mode telecommunication system, wherein it is checked whether or not the mobile communication terminal is in a conversation state upon receiving a call release order message, and a call release process is carried out if the mobile communication terminal is in the conversation state.
