    Abstract: In a machine for spreading sheet material having a carriage movable over a table between fold retaining assemblies and with the carriage having a supply of sheet material, a positive drive roller and fold forming apparatus, a supplemental feed assembly comprising a driving connection which supplements the normal rotation of the positive drive roller to provide a selected amount of overfeed of the sheet material during the operation of the fold-forming apparatus, thereby preventing unwanted stretching of the sheet material.
