Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating a continuous stream of connected business forms into exact count zig-zag folded stacks wherein nip forming rolls are selectively engaged to burst the web stream at a predetermined point and prior to zig-zag folding.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for interfolding featuring a series of identical folding plates each with six folding edges for use in V or Z interfolding.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating wherein the horizontal flow of coating liquid is restricted adjacent the ends of the coating roll to overcome foaming by high flow rates of liquid flow while avoiding fouling of the roll journals.
Abstract: Method for manufacture of business forms in which at least three superposed continuous business form webs are processed and thereafter separated for individual folding, all but one of the webs being shifted laterally into two-wide folders for zig-zag folding.
Abstract: A longitudinally interfolding device and method for simultaneously interfolding a pair of partially superposed webs wherein the free margins of the webs are simultaneously over and under folded.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the transverse cutting of elongated material such as superposed web plies (for example, a convolutely wound log) wherein the material is uniformly advanced along an axial path and a cutting disc blade is moved through an orbit in planetary fashion which intersects the path and is skewed relative thereto while the disc blade is rotating in planes perpendicular to the path.
Abstract: Apparatus for handling wound rolls wherein an upper takeaway conveyor receives rolls from a source conveyor and delivers the same selectively to a plurality of diverter conveyors. Each conveyor is equipped with a plurality of spaced apart grippers including three fingers grouped two on one side of each roll and one finger on the other.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for handling substacks of business forms to develop balanced stacks for packing wherein alternate substacks are rotated 90.degree. incident to the formation of a stack whereby the glued edges are alternately reversed.
Abstract: A diaper folding apparatus employing an open frame drum equipped with a rapidly projecting tucker to force an intermediate diaper portion into a takeaway system and over aligned plates to develop leg folds.
Abstract: Apparatus for handling business forms in which at least three superposed continuous business form webs are processed and thereafter separated for individual folding, with certain of the webs being passed around a compound turning bar prior to folding.
Abstract: A method of zig-zag folding and apparatus therefor wherein two endless belts are each equipped with tuckers and grippers to engage a web continuously and uniformly advanced toward the point of tucker web engagement, the paths of belt travel in the zone contacting the web to be zig-zag folded being of the order of about 60.degree., and wherein there is a means for providing a controlled surplus of the web spaced upstream of the point of folding, the surplus being released at the time of folding to provide precise position of the folds independent of speed.
Abstract: A fluff pad for an absorbent product such as a diaper, sanitary napkin or the like is formed by superposing two layers of fluff top-to-top. The layers are formed separately but simultaneously on conveyor wires. The non-wire side of a layer is the "top". Each layer is scarffed and debulked. One layer is removed from its wire by suction and placed with its wire side engaging a wrap sheet traveling beneath the wire on which the second fluff layer is formed. The second layer is removed from its wire by applying suction from beneath, through the wrap sheet and first layer to deposit the second layer on the first in inverted relation. An additional dispersion sheet may be added between the fluff layers, if desired.
Abstract: A method of producing web units wherein at least two units are simultaneously processed while in superimposed relation, and thereafter the units are laterally separated -- the invention finding particular utility in connection with business forms.
