Publication number: 20240367867Abstract: A lid formed from a single piece of paper material for use with a container. The container has an annular rim. The lid includes a center portion and a nesting lug joined to the center portion. The nesting lug defines a receiving cavity sized to closely correspond to a curved outer surface of the annular rim. The lid further includes a support shoulder extending from the nesting lug and a skirt. The skirt includes an outer wall and an inner wall joined to each other at a fold. A skirt locking tab extends from the inner wall into the receiving cavity of the nesting lug. When the lid is installed on the container, the receiving cavity of the nesting lug contacts the outer surface of the annular rim to create a seal and the locking skirt tab engages the annular rim to hold the annular rim in the receiving cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2023Publication date: November 7, 2024Applicant: Paper Machinery CorporationInventor: James J. Patent number: 6382449Abstract: A nestable beverage cup is preferably formed of two tapered sections. A lower section is sized to fit a cup holder such as used in a vehicle, while an upper section which is not held in the cup holder is provided with a larger diameter than the lower section, and is more broadly tapered to hold a greater volume of fluid. The lower section has a flattened rim which is ultrasonically sealed to the bottom of the upper section. A recessed bottom of the upper section provides an air gap which will insulate the user from the surface of the lower section. The two stage cup contemplates designs with various sidewalls, angles, shapes and raw materials.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2001Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Paper Machinery CorporationInventors: Michael S.
