    Abstract: A protein free glaze forming composition is provided which is storage stable at room temperature. The glaze forming composition includes water, a modified food starch, one or more antibacterial preservatives, a vegetable gum, an alginate and an edible food grade acid. The resulting composition is storage stable at room temperature. It is protein and milk free. It is also sugar free. In use, the surface glaze is sprayed on the bakery product either before or after baking to provide a high gloss shine. The surface glaze composition according to the invention is particularly useful on pies to provide a glaze that is crack resistant and on baked products with flaky crusts.

    Abstract: The pan release coating is provided which includes water, mono and diclycerides, polysorbate, and an antimicrobial effective amount of acetic acid, citric acid and sodium benzoate. Desirably, the composition of the present invention is composed of water in an amount of 77% to 95% by weight, acetic acid in the amount of 0.3 to 1% by weight, citric acid in the amount of 0.02 to 1.0% by weight, sodium benzoate in an amount of 0.02 to 0.3% by weight, monoglycerides and diglycerides in the amount of 2 to 8% by weight and polysorbate in the amount of 2 to 7% by weight. Desirably, lecithin is also included. The resulting product has a pH of 4.5 or below, desirably between about 3.5 and 4.5, and most desirably a pH of 3.6 to 3.9. The product has a shelf life of 12 months or longer at room temperature, without refrigeration or a sealed container.

    Abstract: A manual spray dispenser for pressurizing a liquid to a predetermined pressure is provided. The spray dispenser includes a pressure adjustment assembly to adjust the predetermined pressure between a preselected range of pressures. The pressure adjustment assembly includes an adjustable biasing member to supply a force to a pressure chamber check valve in a direction opposite the flow of liquid from the reservoir to the atmosphere so that the pressure in the delivery passageway can be varied. Optionally, a two-hole rotating nozzle is provided in combination with a pressure adjustment assembly. In another aspect of the invention, an exit orifice purge system is provided to reduce dripping from the nozzle in the manual sprayer after dispensing.

Desirably, the hand pump sprayer includes a first and second discharge outlet to discharge pressurized liquid to the atmosphere along intersecting discharge axes.

    Abstract: According to the invention, a hand held sprayer is provided. Fluid flows from a reservoir to a delivery passageway upon pulling or pressing an actuator such as an aerosol actuator or button, a trigger or finger pump button. A nozzle having an inlet and an outlet is rotatably mounted to the outlet of the delivery passageway. The nozzle rotates about a rotation axis through the center of the discharge end of the nozzle. The actuator of the hand held sprayer is interconnected to the rotatably mounted nozzle to provide rotation of the nozzle simultaneously with the dispensing of the liquid from the reservoir to the atmosphere. The nozzle rotates from about 90.degree. to 360.degree. about the axis of rotation. The resulting hand held sprayer is capable of dispensing viscous liquids having a viscosity of over 60 cps and delivering a desirable round spray pattern.

    Abstract: The hand pump sprayer and system for dispensing viscous liquids are provided. A nozzle is rotatably mounted around the delivery passageway of a hand pump sprayer. The nozzle is interconnected to the trigger of the hand pump sprayer so that the nozzle rotates, upon pulling of the trigger, simultaneously with the discharge of the liquid to the atmosphere. The nozzle rotates about an axis of rotation through the center of the discharge end of the nozzle through an angle of rotation from about 90.degree. to about 360.degree., desirably from 180.degree. to 360.degree. and preferably 270.degree. or more. Desirably the nozzle has two discharge outlets which direct fluid expelled from the hand pump sprayer along intersecting discharge axes. Simultaneously as the fluid is discharged along the intersecting axes, the nozzle is rotated about the axis of rotation. The resulting dispensed liquid has a high degree of atomization and a desirable round spray pattern.

    Abstract: A closed pressurized spray container is provided. The container includes a nozzle assembly interconnected with the delivery passageway or conduit from the self contained closed pressurized container. The nozzle assembly has a first and second passageway, preferably conduits which are connected to a mechanical break up chamber which is connected to the delivery passageway or conduit of the pressurized container. The first and second passageways split and splits the fluid preferably a pan coating exiting from the mechanical break up chamber into two streams. Each conduit has a fluid outlet to the atmosphere. The first and second conduits in combination with said fluid outlets define a discharge axis. The first fluid conduit discharge axis intersects the second fluid discharge axis at an impingement angle .beta. of from 10.degree. to 170.degree. so that the pan coating exiting each outlet intersects at a point exterior to the nozzle.

    Abstract: A low pH egg wash substitute is prepared by blending maltodextrin having a DE of from 1 to 20% with a plasticizer, a secondary film former, 70 to 90% water and preferably a sufficient amount of a microbial inhibitor to effectively retard microbe growth. The composition is rendered essentially chloride ion free by circulating the concentrate through an anionic or mixed ion exchange resin bed. The substantially chloride ion free concentrate is then heat pasteurized and preferably purged with an inert gas. The concentrate is then added to a typical metal aerosol container (e.g., tin coated steel or aluminum) which is then charged with an appropriate propellant. The resulting aerosol packaged glaze forming composition has a low pH which retards microbial growth while at the same time is only mildy corrosive to its container.

The cross sectional flow area of the first and second conduit is smaller than the cross sectional flow area of the delivery conduit so that the velocity of the pan coating increases upon entry into the first and second conduits located in the nozzle assembly.     Abstract: A deodorizing terpene preferably a citrus oil distillate containing substantial amounts of d-Limonene is emulsified with polyethylene glycol nonylphenyl ether to form an oil phase. The resulting oil phase is added to a water phase having a pH of from 8.5 to 10 to form a water-in-oil emulsion having a viscosity under 500 cps preferably about 100 cps. The resulting emulsion is then used as the deodorizing concentrate for filling the aerosol cans. A propellant, preferably an alkane propellant is then added to the cans in an amount of 25-40% of the concentrate. The product is then held for 12 to 24 hours at room temperature during which time it forms a non-flammable, stable oil-in-water, emulsion which can be used as a highly effective aerosol space or room deodorant.
