Patent number: 6691345Abstract: The pair of support arms connected with the respectively horizontal both sides of the plural side rail members lift and lower the side rail proper consisting of a plurality of side rail members by the pivotal rotation of the support arms along the pivotally rotational loci between the high service position and the low stored position. In this motion, the connection points between the support arms and the side rail members are disposed in such a manner that the connection points of the upper side rail member make pivotally rotational motion relatively delayed in phase, with the connection points of the lowest side rail member as the fulcrums, when the side rail members are moved to descend by the pivotally rotational motion of the support arms.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2001Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Assignee: Paramount Bed Company, LimitedInventor: Kenji Nanahara

Patent number: 6564404Abstract: A liftable side rail for a lying table such as a bed, comprising a side rail proper, being pivotally rotatably connected with a pair of support arms pivotally rotatably supported at side rail installation points of the lying table, to be supported in such a manner that the side rail proper may be lifted and lowered by the pivotally rotational motion of these support arms along the pivotally rotational loci between an upper service position and a lower stored position, and each of the support arms, having protrusions functioning as auxiliary side rail members on both sides of the straight line connecting said installation point and the connection point with the side rail proper. When the side rail is held at the lower stored position, the protrusions provided for the support arms are placed along the side rail proper without protruding above and below. So, the tops and bottoms of the protrusions do not constitute any obstruction.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2001Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Assignee: Paramount Bed Company, LimitedInventor: Kenji Nanahara

Patent number: 5469591Abstract: It is the object of the present invention to present a bottom structure which allows a bed bottom to be bent at desired curvatures. This is achieved using a bendable bottom component 6 located between the back and waist portions and/or waist and leg portions of a bed bottom 2 which is comprised of parallel rigid strips 7 and flexible strips 8 located between the respectively adjacent rigid strips 7. The flexible strips 8 are formed as bendable sheets 9 connecting the respectively adjacent rigid strips 7 on the side to form the inside curve of the bottom. Guard rails 10 are provided longitudinally to cover both the ends, in the width direction of the bed, of the bendable bottom component 6. End contacts 11 of the guard rails 10 are engaged with the rigid strips 7, and have end caps 12 attached. The end contacts 11 are adjustable and connected with each other by connecting rods 15. The end caps 12 are formed to be thinner at the overlapped portions than the other portions.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1994Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: Paramount Bed Company LimitedInventor: Katsuyoshi Nomura

Patent number: 5448789Abstract: The present invention provides a bottom structure for a bed having a lifting mechanism and plural parallel bottom strips connected sequentially by elastic strips, thus allowing the bottom to be bent. The elastic strips are curved in areas not in contact with the bottom strips so that the bottom structure can be adjusted in length.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1993Date of Patent: September 12, 1995Assignee: Paramount Bed Company LimitedInventor: Kunito Shirai

Patent number: 5388290Abstract: The present invention provides a bottom structure for a bed having a bottom lifting mechanism, comprising plural parallel bottom strips; each of the bottom strips being sequentially connected to allow bottom bending; and each of the bottom strips, having a tenon formed in the longitudinal axial direction of the bed on one of the faces to be face-to-face with the adjacent bottom strip, and having a mortise formed in the opposite face, so as to be loosely engaged with the tenon of the adjacent bottom strip.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1993Date of Patent: February 14, 1995Assignee: Paramount Bed Company LimitedInventor: Kunito Shirai

Patent number: 5377369Abstract: The present invention provides a bottom structure for a bed having a bottom lifting mechanism, comprising parallel bottom strips, each strip having coupling grooves, located in the opposing faces of the bottom strips in the longitudinal direction, the strips being sequentially connected by coupling members. Each coupling member has portions corresponding to the coupling grooves at both ends of the coupling member which are incorporated as components of the bottom structure of the bed.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1993Date of Patent: January 3, 1995Assignee: Paramount Bed Company LimitedInventor: Kunito Shirai

Patent number: 5369826Abstract: A bottom structure of a bed having a bottom formed so as to be bendable by a series of parallel strips mutually sequentially connected such that the strips are shorter in width on the side away from the sequentially connected side. In this way the bottom structure of the bed allows a portion of a bed bottom to be bent in a large curvature, thus is provided a bed which is comfortable and highly adaptable for patients of various body sizes.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: Paramount Bed Company LimitedInventor: Yasuhiro Ikeda
