Patent number: 6926033Abstract: This invention generally concerns electronically controlled hydraulic valves for use in electro-hydraulically controlled transmissions. The proportional pressure control valve 20 includes a hollow cage 42 pierced by cage tank ports 52, cage clutch ports 54, and cage pump ports 56. The cage pump ports 56 receive fluid from a pump. The cage clutch ports 54 supply fluid to a hydraulic actuator. The cage tank ports 52 return fluid from the valve 20 to a tank from where fluid circulates back to the pump. Main spool 112 controls fluid flow between cage clutch ports 54 and cage pump ports 56 or cage tank ports 52. An electro-magnetically operated pilot valve regulates fluid pressure applied to a control pressure surface 138. A feedback pressure passage 126, having feedback restriction orifice 128, restrains the rate fluid flows between the cage clutch ports 54 and the feedback pressure surface 114.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2004Date of Patent: August 9, 2005Assignee: Parker-Hannifin Corp.Inventors: Louis C. Patent number: 6523570Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve with a bobbin/valve body, a solenoid and a plunger. The bobbin/valve body is formed in one piece, and defines all of the valve's inlet/outlet ports and forms the entire support structure for the solenoid and the plunger. The valve may be connected to a manifold by press-fitting port nipples of the valve into corresponding channels in the manifold. The manifold is formed of a resilient, elastomeric material, and the port nipples include radial projecting barbs, which enable the valve to be fluidly-connected to the manifold without additional O-ring seals or other mechanical sealing devices. Fittings with barbs can likewise be press-fit in other channels of the manifold to connect the valve assembly with fluid lines or other components in the fluid system. The fittings can also be provided unitary with the manifold, and/or adhesively attached to the manifold and/or to the fluid lines and other components.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2001Date of Patent: February 25, 2003Assignee: Parker-Hannifin Corp.Inventors: Andreas A. Patent number: 6318167Abstract: A test device and a process for determining the accuracy of positive displacement gear pumps includes hydraulic cylinders which are fluidly connected to the output fluid flow(s) from a test pump. Each outlet flow is directed to a separate hydraulic cylinder. The test pump is driven by a motor for a preset number of revolutions. The length of stroke of the piston in each hydraulic cylinder is then determined, which corresponds to the volume of fluid provided from each pump outlet during the revolution of the gears in the pump. It can then be determined if the volumetric accuracy and efficiency of the pump is within acceptable limits.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1999Date of Patent: November 20, 2001Assignee: Parker-Hannifin Corp.Inventor: William Power

Patent number: 6289879Abstract: A recirculating valve for the fuel system of an internal combustion engine includes a valve body with a fuel supply passage and a fuel return passage. An air separation chamber and a restricted orifice are provided in the fuel return passage. A pressure valve allows excess heated return fuel in the air separation chamber to recirculate with the fuel in the fuel supply passage. The valve also directs return air back to the tank and prevents the air from passing to the engine. A thermal actuator maintains the pressure valve in a closed condition when the fuel increases above a predetermined temperature. A relief valve can be provided in the fuel return outlet port to allow fuel to easily pass back to tank during normal operating conditions.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Parker-Hannifin Corp.Inventors: Michael D. Patent number: 6283151Abstract: A coupling includes a male half and a female half, where the female half has a fitting rigidly fixed to a stationary member such as an agricultural tractor. The male half can be coupled within the female half. When the male and female halves are coupled together, a valve assembly in the female half allows fluid flow through the coupling. When the male half is pulled out of the female half, the male half automatically disconnects from the female half. When the male half is removed, the valve assembly closes to prevent fluid flow through the coupling. The male half also automatically disconnects when the fluid pressure in the fluid system increases above a predetermined amount. In either case, a coupler body within the fitting moves against a centering spring to allow the male half to be removed from the female half. The selection of an appropriate centering spring determines the breakaway and overpressure release force.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2001Date of Patent: September 4, 2001Assignee: Parker-Hannifin Corp.Inventors: Kevin E.
