  • Patent number: 5791856
Abstract: A prefabricated space module resting on a horizontal support surface is transferred using at least three elongate stands, each stand having a wheel at a first end and an engagement element at a second end. The engagement elements are adapted to engage respective attachment elements of the space module. Each stand is of a length such that a surface region of the wheel at the first end of the stand can engage the horizontal support surface when the stand is inclined to vertical and the engagement element at the second end of the stand is engaged with an attachment element of the space module. By displacing the first end of each stand toward a position in which the stand is more nearly vertical while the engagement elements remain engaged with the respective attachment elements, the space module is elevated clear of the horizontal support surface.

  • Patent number: 5115813
Abstract: The invention concerns an ultrasound based measurement method and an apparatus for examining dense tissues in particular. According to the method, the measured object (17) is subjected to a high-frequency ultrasound signal, and echoes returning from the object (17) are converted into electric signals. According to the invention, either the object (17) or the ultrasound transducer (36) is vibrated at a low-frequency and the level of the low-frequency vibrating signal is detected from the echo signal, whereby interface locations of the vibrating object (17) can be determined from the maximum values of the detected low-frequency signal in relation to the transmitted high-frequency pulse.

  • Patent number: 4923379
Abstract: An apparatus for the instant cutting of hollow-cored concrete slabs wherein the cast cored slabs are subjected to an instant cutting operation prior to the hardening of the concrete mix in such a manner that exposes the cores and the ends of the cores are filled to avoid jointing mix from intruding into the cores. The instant cutting is performed by driving two sheet-shaped cutting blades (3), which are mutually placed in a V-shaped posture, through the slab to make cutting tips (10) of the blades (3) meet at the bottom of the slab. A cutting knife (1), whose sides (16) face the mix and are disposed essentially parallel to the cutting blades (3), is driven through the slab, between the cutting blades (3), towards the cutting tips (10) of the blades (3).

  • Patent number: 4883416
Abstract: The invention concerns a slip-form casting machine for fabrication of elongated concrete products. The slip-form casting machine comprises a feed hooper (1), an auger (6) for exerting pressure onto a concrete mix to be cast, and a casting mold (10, 11). According to the invention, the casting mold (10, 11) is a tubular construction plugged at one end, and the auger (6) is connected to a casting machine body (18) which is substantially complementary with the cross section of the casting mold (10) and is movable with respect to the mold (10) in order to facilitate slip-form casting of a product (7) with an elongated shape in the axial direction of the casting mold. The slip-form casting machine in accordance with the invention produces smooth and high-quality surfaces in concrete products.
