Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable storage to implement a social networking game that enables players to scan QR codes (or other identifying markers) and transmit the items scanned to a server that determines the physical location of the player. Players can play a game where they attempt to find and scan as many QR codes as possible. In an embodiment, the QR codes can also be used for crowd control. People in areas that are overly populated can be incentivized to move to lower traffic areas by offering them incentives for reporting to the low traffic area.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable storage to implement a game which is initiated by a player scanning a QR code on a portable device. The player's physical location can be determined from QR code, and then potential prizes in the game are determined based on the location of the player. The potential prizes can come in the form of slices on a wheel and the wheel is spun to a random result.
