Patent number: 7671545Abstract: The invention is a device for operating a high-pressure gas discharge lamp, which is provided with a starting auxiliary electrode, with a current of alternating polarity. The device has a series resonance circuit with a resonance inductive resistor, through which flows the lamp current when the lamp is in operation, and a starting device for subjecting the starting auxiliary electrode to the starting voltage required for starting the gas discharge in the high-pressure gas discharge lamp. There is also a capacitive component, which is connected in series to the resonance inductive resistor and is dimensioned in such a manner that the capacitive component effects, after the gas discharge in the high-pressure gas discharge lamp has been started, at least a partial compensation for the inductance of the resonance inductive resistor, through which the lamp current flows.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2006Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur electrische Gluhlampen mbHInventor: Bernhard Sieβegger

Patent number: 7331690Abstract: An infrared headlight useful in a night vision system may be made with an infrared emitter positioned in a reflector. The radiation source is associated with a filter body which has a first filter layer part and a second uncoated part. The two parts are designed so the radiation transmitted through the uncoated part strikes a different area of the reflector than the infrared radiation transmitted through the filter layer. The two regions of the reflector may have differing reflective characteristics.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2005Date of Patent: February 19, 2008Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur electrische Gluhlampen mbHInventor: Hans Joachim Schmidt

Publication number: 20070164649Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle headlight bulb with a bulb receptacle, a spiral wound filament (2) which is arranged inside the receptacle for the bulb (1) and a lamp base which has a metal base bushing (3) wherein the end (11) of the bulb receptacle (1), which is sealed by means of a molybdenum film seal (112, 113) is fixed. According to the invention, the metal base bushing (3) comprises at least one molded tab (32) which lies adjacent to thc scaled end (11) of the bulb receptacle (1), in the overlapping area of the molybdenum films (112, 113), with current supply wires (23,24) which protrude from the bulb receptacle and which are connected thereto, in order to reduce thermal load in the above-mentioned overlapping area during operation of the bulb.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2005Publication date: July 19, 2007Applicant: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur Electrische gluhlampen MBHInventor: Klaus-Peter Knorr

Patent number: 6893146Abstract: A luminaire for installing in the cover cap of an exterior rearview mirror for motor vehicles, has a luminaire housing and an electrical lamp arranged therein. The housing is entirely or partly of transparent design, such that in the installed state light exit surfaces of the housing are arranged both on the front side and on the rear side of the exterior rearview mirror. The lamp has a tubular, sealed lamp vessel, at least a portion of the lateral surface of the lamp vessel and an end face of the lamp vessel being of transparent design. Light directing elements for focusing the light emerging from the lateral surface and for deflecting the light emerging from the end face are provided such that the light emerging from the end face is directed toward a light exit surface arranged opposing the light emerging from the lateral surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2003Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft für Electrische Glühlampen mbHInventors: Matthias Fiegler, Thomas Reiners

Patent number: 4739220Abstract: To increase the high-voltage resistance of a metal halide high-pressure dharge lamp, the external leads (6, 6', 6") are spaced wider apart than previously at their exit point from a pinch seal (3', 23', 23"). To facilitate manufacture, and to permit the widened spacing of the electrodes, the lamp portion (3) which will form the pinch seal is pre-heated in a first step and deformed into elongated oval cross section, leaving enough space to introduce a subassembly formed of the electrode connecting leads (6), internal electrodes (7) and molybdenum sealing foils (9); the sealing foils (9) may then already be located with a spacing which is increased with respect to spacing usually customary in the prior art. The external connecting leads (6) are secured to the sealing foils (9) so that attachment points extend at right angle to the sealing foils; the attachment leads can be angled within the press seal (FIG.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur electrische Gluhlampen mbHInventors: Alexander Dobrusskin, Jurgen Heider, Achim Gosslar

Patent number: 4572989Abstract: To insure starting of an oscillatory circuit for fluorescent lamp operation scillating, for example, at about 35 kHz, two transistors are serially connected across the output of a rectifier adapted for connection to an a-c network, and the oscillatory circuit is additionally coupled to one of the a-c terminals of the rectifier, to apply to one of the transistors a triggering voltage which recurs with each undulation of the a-c network. The serially connected transistors each have an emitter resistor, which may be a PTC resistor, to balance currents through the transistors and eliminate unbalancing effects of manufacturing tolerances in the transistors. The PTC resistors additionally have current deviation regulating function.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1982Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Patent-Treuhand Gesellschaft fur electrische Gluhlampen mbHInventor: Anton Zuchtriegel
