Abstract: Extraction instruments and systems for use in revision arthroplasty are provided. The extraction instruments are shaped and configured to fit within the typically tight confines in which revision arthroplasty is performed, and to enhance the surgeon's control over the axis, quantum and speed of the force that is required be applied to disrupt a bone-to-prosthesis bond. This enables completion of a revision arthroplasty to proceed more quickly, and with reduced risk that unwanted movements might cause accidental injury to nearby vital structures.

  • Patent number: 4144983
Abstract: A child-resistant closure for a container having a screw threaded neck, includes a cap having an end wall and a depending, cylindrical skirt with screw threads therein for mating cooperation with the screw threads on the container to releasably secure the cap to the container. Interengaging, selectively releasable detent members are formed on the cap and container for resisting removal of the cap by a child, but enabling an adult to remove the cap. The detent members include a plurality of detents on the cap and a cooperating detent on the container, wherein the detents have first cooperating, interengagable surfaces to enable the detents to move past one another in a cap tightning direction, and second cooperating, interengagable surfaces to prevent movement of the detents past one another in a cap loosening direction.

  • Patent number: 4136338
Abstract: A perimeter alarm apparatus includes a loop of wire to be placed around an area to be guarded and electrical circuitry connected with the loop for detecting the absence of a signal imposed on the loop. The signal imposed on the loop is produced by a sending unit worn by a child, for example, who is intended to remain within the area bounded by the loop. As long as the child is within the area, the sending unit will induce a signal on the loop, but when the child moves beyond the loop a predetermined distance, no signal is imposed on the loop, with the result that an alarm is sounded by the circuitry.

  • Patent number: 4099639
Abstract: A child resistant closure for a container having a threaded neck. The closure comprises a cap including a disc-shaped end wall and an internally threaded depending cylindrical side wall or skirt having an annular bottom end surface. A yieldable ledge or collar is on the neck of the container in a position to be engaged by the end surface of the cap side wall when the cap is threaded fully onto the neck of the container, and a shaped, interfitting lug and recess are on the collar and cap end surface in a position to be automatically interengaged everytime the cap is threaded fully onto the container to lock the cap in a fully closed position on the container. The collar is yieldable to enable selective release of the lug and recess to thereby enable retrograde movement of the cap from the threaded neck.

  • Patent number: 4079364
Abstract: An alarm apparatus which is activated upon immersion. The apparatus is adapted to be worn whenever the wearer is expected to be in the proximity of a body of open water and will sound an alarm should that wearer fall into the water. The apparatus is portable, self-contained and has a water activated release to automatically release the apparatus from the wearer upon immersion of the device. The alarm is mounted in a buoyant housing so that housing is self-righting to float to the surface of the water in an upright orientation so the alarm signal is emitted outwardly of the water when the housing reaches the surface. Various embodiments and actuating and release circuits are also disclosed.
