  • Patent number: 5775788
Abstract: A track assembly includes a guide rail secured to a piece of furniture, a runner secured to a drawer and formed with end stops that run against stationary stops to limit the movement of the runner, an inner slide rail interconnecting the runner and the guide rail to one another to effect a linear travel of the runner relative to the guide rail. Positioned between the slide rail and the runner and the guide rail are cages for retaining balls therein. Each cage is provided in its end zones with supplemental elastic stops which cooperate with end stops so that stationary stops are first impacted by the elastic stops to align possibly tilted drawers before being impacted by the end stops.

  • Patent number: 5351924
Abstract: A mount for a furnishing has a housing which is designed to be attached to the furnishing. A carrier is mounted in the housing for horizontal and vertical displacement and has a hook-like end portion which projects from the housing and can engage a hook on a wall. The housing is provided with a horizontal, keyhole-shaped slot, and a vertical screw is mounted in the slot and meshes with a thread in the carrier. The vertical screw, which serves to shift the carrier vertically, if fixed against axial displacement but is movable along the slot as the carrier is shifted horizontally. A horizontal screw is likewise held on the carrier so as to be fixed against axial displacement and serves to shift the carrier horizontally. The horizontal screw has a threaded section designed to mesh with a thread in the carrier and an unthreaded section which extends from the threaded section to the end of the screw.

  • Patent number: 5253390
Abstract: A hinge for an article of furniture has a mount which is attachable to a wall of the article. A hinge unit including a hinge arm and, optionally, a support for the arm is releasably connectible to the mount. To this end, the hinge unit is provided with a shaft which is receivable in a complementary recess of the mount. The hinge unit is further provided with a resilient tongue, and the tongue has a groove which cooperates with a projection on the mount to lock the hinge unit to the mount by snap action. A lever projects at an angle from both sides of the hinge unit, and the free end of each lever carries an arm which extends towards the tongue. An inclined protuberance is provided on either side of the tongue and each lever arm abuts a respective protuberance. The arrangement is such that, when the levers are urged towards one another, the lever arms cooperate with the protuberances to disengage the groove in the tongue from the projection on the mount.

  • Patent number: 5240318
Abstract: A device for holding a drawer closed includes a fork-like member which is pivotable between an inoperative position and an operative position. When the drawer is open, the fork-like member is normally in the inoperative position. As the drawer is closed, a pin on the drawer engages a first tine of the fork-like member to thereby pivot the latter to the operative position in which the pin is engaged by a second tine of the fork-like member. The second tine biases the pin under the action of a spring so as to hold the drawer closed. A returning member is integral with the fork-like member and serves to return the fork-like member to the inoperative position if the fork-like member is unintentionally pivoted to the operative position while the drawer is open. The returning member is provided with a channel having a first open end adjacent to the fork-like member and a second open end which faces the pin when the drawer is open and the fork-like member is in the operative position.

  • Patent number: 5070926
Abstract: A folding door has plural pairs of panels and the panels of each pair are pivotally connected to one another via hinges defining vertical pivot axes. For any two neighboring pairs, a first panel of one pair and an adjacent second panel of the other pair are articulated to a carrier movable along a horizontal guide rail. At least each first panel supports an elongated actuating element having a projecting portion which overlies the adjacent second panel in the closed position of the door. Every carrier supports a two-armed lever which is rotatable on an axis paralleling the pivot axes defined by the hinges. In the closed position of the door, a first arm of each lever, is located in the path which the projecting portion of the respective actuating element follows during opening of the door while the second arm abuts the respective second panel.

  • Patent number: 5040858
Abstract: An article of furniture has a series of superimposed drawers. An arresting mechanism for the drawers includes an activating device secured to a side wall of the article of furniture adjacent to each drawer. Each activating device comprises a carrier which is affixed to the side wall and supports an entraining element. The entraining elements are rotatable and also shiftable horizontally in the direction of movement of the drawers. Each entraining element defines a gap and each drawer carries an operating pin which is received in the corresponding gap when the drawer is closed. An entraining peg is provided on each entraining element. The activating devices have aligned passages which receive a vertically movable strip extending by all of the drawers. The strip has an angular groove adjacent to each drawer consisting of a vertical portion and an inclined portion, and each entraining peg projects into a respective groove.

  • Patent number: 5020869
Abstract: A drawer for an article of furniture has a pair of oppositely disposed sides which are parallel to the direction of movement of the drawer when the latter is opened and closed. Each of these sides is formed with an elongated pocket which is designed to receive a runner for the drawer. Such a runner includes an elongated support which is symmetrical about a median plane dividing the support longitudinally and can be mounted at either side of the drawer. In its mounted condition, the support extends in the direction of movement of the drawer. The runner further includes an elongated guide rail which serves to guide the drawer during movement. The guide rail is designed to be releasably connected to the support in such a manner that the guide rail extends in parallelism with the support and is prevented from shifting longitudinally relative thereto. The means for releasably connecting the guide rail to the support includes one or two grooves in the guide rail and one or two cooperating detents on the support.

  • Patent number: 4847948
Abstract: A hinge for connecting two relatively movable components of a piece of furniture has a housing which is mounted on one of the components and a carrier which is mounted on the other component. A link bar pivotally connects the housing to a hinge arm which is secured to a quick-mounting plate via a fastening screw. The fastening screw passes through a slotted hole of the hinge arm so that the latter can be moved longitudinally relative to the quick-mounting plate when the fastening screw is loosened. An adjusting screw is threaded into the hinge arm and allows the inclination of the hinge arm relative to the quick-mounting plate to be adjusted. One end of the quick-mounting plate is provided with a pivotable arresting member for rapidly locking the quick-mounting plate to, and rapidly releasing it from, the carrier. The arresting member has a lip which engages a projection of the carrier in the locked condition. A cover is provided for the hinge arm and is designed to overlie the fastening and adjusting screws.
