  • Patent number: 6321468
Abstract: An outsole having a body member with an inner-structure including a plurality of arcuately shaped ribs extending substantially from the medial to lateral sides thereof. The plurality of arcuately shaped ribs are spaced forwardly, rearwardly, and generally below the metatarsophalangeal joints of a wearer's foot inserted in footwear constructed from the outsole. The inner-structure includes a plurality of sidebars extending forwardly and rearwardly from each of the plurality of arcuately shaped ribs to promote arcuate flexure in front of, behind, and between each of the ribs. The body member includes a peripheral member spaced along the perimeter and connected to the ends of each of the plurality of arcuately shaped ribs, toe and heel support structures configured to reduce flexure in spaces defined between those structures and the peripheral member. The outsole also includes a tread member and a stabilizing member imposed between, and connected to each of, the body member and the tread member.

  • Patent number: 6131311
Abstract: An insole insert comprises a body having a bottom portion, a heel edge, a lateral side edge, a medial side edge, a depression portion spaced generally centrally beneath the user's first metatarsal phalangeal joint, a heel portion formed along the heel lateral side edges and extending forwardly to just rearwardly of the user's fifth metatarsal phalangeal joint, and an arch portion formed along the medial side edge and extending forwardly to just rearwardly of the depression portion. The heel portion and the arch portion, which form a channel that is laterally angularly offset relative to the insole insert, are configured to cooperatively redistribute the normally greater weight-generated forces applied to the inner and more bony regions of the user's heel outwardly toward the outer and more fleshy regions of the user's heel.

  • Patent number: 6094885
Abstract: A device is provided for assisting in the removal of articles from a first conveying system into a container and for reorienting the container for loading onto a second conveying system. The device comprises a base; a platform pivotally connected to the base, and an actuating mechanism configured to operatively pivot the platform. The platform has a panel and a lip operatively configured to cooperatively support and retain the container in a substantially inclined position substantially adjacent to the first conveying system for facilitating loading of articles into the container. The actuating mechanism pivots the platform and thus the container such that the panel assumes a substantially horizontal position for loading the container onto the second conveying system.
