Abstract: The invention relates to a parking fee system comprising: a parking fee register including means for maintaining parking data and a tariff database. In order to improve user-friendliness the parking fee register is configured to send application data to a mobile station of a user of a determined vehicle in response to the reception of the parking data indicating the commencement of the parking of said vehicle, the application data including at least a tariff retrieved from the tariff database on the basis of the parking data and the expiration time of the parking, the application data initiating an application in the mobile station of the user that offers the user a chance to keep track in real time of at least the sum of the accrued parking fee and the remaining parking time.

Abstract: A parking fee system includes a parking fee register in which information is maintained on one or more vehicles known to the system for which payment is made for parking, a vehicle-specific identification device from which a vehicle code of a vehicle is machine readable, and a control device for automatically reading the vehicle code from the vehicle-specific identification device for transmitting a control request message containing the vehicle code to the parking fee register, and for receiving a control information message reporting on the payment or non-payment of the parking fee and for notifying a user of the device of the information included in the control information message.
