Patent number: 10424423Abstract: A coaxial cable of the present invention comprises a center conductor, a dielectric surrounding the center conductor, a shielding tape surrounding the dielectric, a braided metal surrounding the shielding tape, and an outer jacket surrounding the braided metal. The shielding tape comprises: (i) a first shielding layer bonded to a first separating layer; (ii) a second shielding layer bonded to the first separating layer and a second separating layer; and (iii) a third shielding layer bonded to the second separating layer. The present invention eliminates the potential problem of the outer shielding structures separating and interfering with connector attachment. Furthermore, the use of three or more shielding layers in the shielding tape of the present invention improves the flex life of the shield tape by covering micro-cracks in the metal layers with additional shielding layers, thus reducing signal egress or ingress.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2017Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: PCT International, Inc.Inventor: Leonard James Visser

Publication number: 20190228878Abstract: In an electronic cable, a shielding tape prevents and mitigates the creation and propagation of micro-fractures and the deleterious effects thereof. In some embodiments, the shielding tape has layers which are oriented in a non-zero transverse relation with respect to each other, or have been treated to have non-zero orientations. Other embodiments include micro-fracture propagation mitigation means, such as perforations, ridges, waffling, and dimpling. In some embodiments, the layers of the shielding tape are bonded to each other with an electrically-conductive elastomeric adhesive. In other embodiments, the shielding tape is wrapped around a cable's dielectric and form an overlap gap, which is filled by an electrically-conductive elastomeric adhesive.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2019Publication date: July 25, 2019Applicant: PCT International, Inc.Inventors: Leonard Visser, Timothy L. Patent number: 10348043Abstract: A cable connector includes a body having a longitudinal axis, an inner post, an outer barrel mounted to the inner post, and a fitting mounted to the inner post. The inner post includes a front, a rear, and an outwardly-directed front flange at the front. The fitting includes a front, a rear, and an inwardly-directed rear flange at the rear. The fitting is mounted on the inner post so that the front and rear flanges overlap to define a toroidal volume. A wave washer and a lock washer are each carried in the toroidal volume. When the fitting is applied to a female post, the wave washer and the lock washer are compressed between the front and rear flanges and exert an axial bias on the front and rear flanges to prevent axial separation of the fitting and the female post.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2017Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: PCT International, Inc.Inventor: Timothy L. Publication number: 20170104304Abstract: A universal compact compression tool includes a vise assembly having different sets of jaws. The different sets of jaws are for holding different connectors during installation on a cable. A shaft on the tool is mounted to move between advanced and retracted positions with respect to the vise assembly. On the shaft, a plunger is mounted to move between first and second positions. In the first position of the plunger, the plunger is advanced on the shaft. In the second position of the plunger, the plunger is retracted on the shaft. The user sets the plunger in either the first or the second position depending on the type of connector to be installed on the cable. Once selected, and with the connector in the vise assembly, the user closes a lever of the tool to move the shaft to the advanced position, thereby applying the connector to the cable.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 13, 2016Publication date: April 13, 2017Applicant: PCT International, Inc.Inventor: Timothy L.
